Re: Chinese SKS Markings (sticky)
Looking at getting this rifle but I only want a rifle that was made for the Chinese military or issued. Here are the pictures, the seller says it's a late 1970 or 71. If anyone could help it would be great. He also gave me permission to post pics of his rifle! IMG_6674.PNG IMG_6673.PNG IMG_6670.PNG

Re: Transitional type 99
Did you pick this up at the Oaks PA show? I saw a 7th series exactly like this at the show. I had a table set up with a Japanese weapons display, so maybe you stopped by and talked with me too? Nice rifle. If it's the one from Oaks, I thought about picking it up, but have a few high dollar Japanese...

Re: Transitional type 99
Great find! Mine is about 4,000 rifles newer than this one. The stock color strikes me as mine has a very dark red to it but I know different arsenals and even different within the same arsenal applied the urushi finish in different coats. image25.JPG image26.JPG I really like the dark looking stoc...

Re: Transitional type 99
Appears you have a nice 7th series Nagoya made 2029 rifles before mine. Mine like yours has the ground mum and is all matching. The Nagoya symbol is at the end of the serial and the Mark just to the left denotes the series number. I think I found the info at candrsenal.com.  Aw...

Re: IMA Sale on Helmets from the Finnish M40/55 Contract
Numrich has Swedish m37-65 helmets for dirt cheap I bought one of each option. $7.95, $9.95, and $12.95 all in VG-E I was wondering if anyone here could tell me the difference between the olive one, the one with the crest and the one without, from a historical standpoint. I've heard the olive m37-65...

Just wondering if there was anything unique about this? Was originally keeping an eye out for a cheap Tula but stumbled on this.

Re: Arisaka '38 question
I picked up a 99 at a Sanford and Son type junk store in the middle of the worst neighborhood in Newburgh NY two years ago for a C note. Went there looking for antique phonographs and found guns instead. Figured I might need it to fight my way back to the car. Don't want to make another thread rega...

Re: IMA Sale on Helmets from the Finnish M40/55 Contract
Lack of markings means post war made helmet. I just received these Bulgarian m72s, I was wondering if you (or anyone) know anything about the variances. If one of the helmets has flatter rivets it might be a M51 versus M72, my knowledge on Bulgarian helmets is limited at best. Regardless nice looki...

Re: IMA Sale on Helmets from the Finnish M40/55 Contract
Mine looks exceptional for the price, paid the extra money for a hand select and looks to be well worth it (wanted a darker green first of all) I thought the rivets were supposed to be a silver color, are painted rivets normal? your rivets look like german and not like the finn rivets I'm not seein...

Re: IMA Sale on Helmets from the Finnish M40/55 Contract
Rivets were normally painted, but over time the paint wore off them. Look at WWII german helmets, you can see some where almost all the paint is worn off, and some that are still painted. Thank you! I prefer them painted so it was a nice surprise! Might have to get a brown or grey one now Helmet co...
