Re: A little bit of an out-there one for this sub, perhaps - CC

@Brake Weight That's totally fair enough. Unfortunately, for the time being, it's going to have to stay off of my list. Time is tight, and getting tighter where I would have sufficient enough time to sit down and give her some fine-tuning TLC. Not to mention California sort of frowns upon dischargin...

Re: A little bit of an out-there one for this sub, perhaps - CC

@Brake Weight/tjtM38, What have your experiences with the extractors on your respective models been? I ruled those out as everywhere I looked, it seemed to be a common trend: extractor failure. While Kel Tec seems to be a great company to deal with, that's going to be of little use to me if the need...

A little bit of an out-there one for this sub, perhaps - CC

OK, so, i'm posting this same topic on a few boards. I figure, the more input I can get, the better informed i'll be on my decision. Looking into getting my first Concealed carry. I've done a fair amount of digging, hunting, searching, fondling (whoops, did I say that?), and contemplating. What i've...

Re: Mosin accuracy?

As others have said, stacking two+ rounds in the same hole is largely going to be by chance. I got the chance to get some range time in this past weekend, bench rested, my 91/30 was shooting 5-6 MOA while my Yugo capture 98k/98/48/whatever you'd like to call it was grouping 2-3 at 100 yards. With a ...

Re: Discussion on a Yugo 98/48

For the life of me, I can't understand why this thread has gone on and on. All the Yugo 98/40's I've encountered have struck me as cheap, poorly manufactured and finished and really hideously grindy on the action. In short, just a junk non-collector's cast-off. Unless you are absolutely on the bott...

So, i've got her home, grabbed some (less than stellar quality) pictures Gallery can be found here: http://imgur.com/a/tPpxQ Any knowledgeable people mind helping me decipher these markings? 1. Handguard, stamped "5000" 2. - 3. Cleaning rod(?) block, stamped with what appears to be a "...

Re: Discussion on a Yugo 98/48

Apologies again for the extended nature of my replies. FFL was willing to do the transfer directly to my name, so the ten day waiting period has begun. Should be able to pick her up on the 23'rd at which point, i'll tear her down and see if I can find any more info about her. Any suggestions on what...

It's a 1922,or 1923, Hex Tula. Not in the best condition, looks like a bubba paint job.
There's ways to get that paint off!
Got any pictures you'd like to share? :P

Re: Best WW2 Battle Rifle poll!

Both objectively and subjectively, there is no "right" answer here. If we're talking about firepower here, the Garand takes the cake. The brits had their mad minute, but you can't output the volume of a semi auto with a user manipulated action. If we're talking build, arguably, the K98 tak...

Totally didn't mean to threadjack this hard, but at least it's good for posterity!

I'll pick up a few pins after work today, report back with my findings.

I'd call you a hard-headed fool not to wear your eyes and ears when shootin' in any capacity though :P

Re: Firing Pin 91/30

How far is it sticking out the back of the cocking piece? If you can't back it one revolution, have you checked headspace? Because either your firing pins' threads are short, or your firing pin is too long. There is a third possibility; it is failing or near failing headspace. Since you haven't had...

Totally going to threadjack here, Happened to browse past Junk Yard Dog's guide yesterday, and then saw this topic today.... so I thought I midas well make a comment. A thousand rounds + later, i'm yet to have a puncture. Completely bottomed out, my firing pin still touches the 95 (tool will actual...

Re: Newly Made Firing Pin Spring

While i've kept the original tucked away in my field cleaning kit, I don't think it's detrimental to the history of the rifle to replace the spring. Springs generally don't age very well, it's just in their nature A rifle that has a light strike can not only be a little dangerous (hangfire ND's happ...

I'll certainly have to give her a measure when I get her in (the 10-day waiting period hasn't even begun for him yet, it hasn't shipped out, then i've got another 10 days to transfer it to my name.... Re: Discussion on a Yugo 98/48

Apologies that it's taken me some time to get back to y'all, been swamped with life. I went off and picked up an original post-war German "tobacco can" cleaning kit for her just a few minutes ago. When it comes to cleaning kits, the only thing I currently own is a 7.62 set, .223 set, and a...

Re: scout scope

Personally, i've got the Brass Stacker mount on mine. They have two versions, one similar to the above, one "universal" mount. I've got the universal design, and thus far, it's held zero through over a thousand rounds, I did torque the snot out of the hex screws, however. Has plenty of adj...

Discussion on a Yugo 98/48

So, long story short, my cousin has known for years that i've been in want of a 98k. From about the age of 10, i've said that i'd own one some day. So, in combination of "payment" for the work i've put in towards in helping him build an add on to his house, and as a combo christmas/birthda...

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!

Well between rain showers, I was able to shoot my Mosin Nagant PU for the first time this past Saturday. I have to say, I was very impressed, for a 72 year old rifle, I had no issue what so ever, accuracy was bang on. My daughters and I had so much fun shooting it. After shooting when I got home, I...
