Re: I'm here

MN man, here is a great website to glean off of as well. It is an info site with most, if not all, of the info known to date about the SKS and its variants.
http://www.yooperj.com/SKS.htm.BAK It is to the SKS what Ted's info site 7.62x54r.net is to the MN pretty much

Re: First pic post -my restoration Paratrooper SKS

Well, figured I might as well play a little to get more familiar with how this particular forum works as opposed to the others I am on so am posting up a recent restoration project. First a little about me on this. I am a tinkerer as many here who know me from other forums, etc. will testify. I use...

Re: Ortgies .32 ACP gets a little brother! Pic Heavy.

That is definitely a nice looking pair of pistols you have there. I have worked on a few Ortgies back when I worked in a gunsmithing shop. They are nice to work on. Good classic pistols.

Re: Forums back up!...then down...then up!

Working with a new laptop and accidentally closed my whole web browser. When I restarted it and tried to re-open the forum it wouldn't open. That was around 12-12:30 and couldn't get back on til now. Thought I had broken it.(again) :D

Re: Very rare circumstance, but terrible none the less.

This is one reason I always wear safety glasses. How does one go about making that firearm servicable again? Just get another receiver? Classic arms, among other places, have stripped MN receivers at reasonable prices so if you could do the work yourself you could make a serviceable rifle for not m...

Re: "hex" receiver versus round receiver

Well, if you really want to get picky, it's not an octagon barrel either. It is four sided on top and round-ish on the bottom. If they split the bottom rounded side into two parts(separated by the action screw mount/hole) then that would indeed make it a 'Hex' receiver. Just sayin'  (yea...

Re: 762X54R in a 46 grain

popgun, the 46gr ammo(as mentioned in the other thread about it) is milsurp training ammo. The casing and powder characteristics are the same as regular milsurp 7.62x54r. It is fairly accurate out to 100M or so and has very little recoil. Made to help recruits get used to firing the rifle correctly ...

Re: Rather Hefty Selling Price - Wz.91/98/25 8mm

Martin I agree with you on the replace vs re-bored barrel. The step down looks classic Mauser barrel type set up and I couldn't see why they would re-mill the OD for that when it would only take up more time and money needlessly. One question though. I noticed the last step on the barrel of the seco...

Re: good places to get cc holsters?

There is a member of another forum board that I am on that makes custom IWB holsters. His website is http://www.hhholsters.com. I have not had the need to get one but everyone I know who has gotten one likes them. May not be what you are looking for but worth checking out.

Re: Forums back up!

Oh BTW, I did try to check out the archived threads from the old forum just to learn and get a better feel for everything here and got the big red X there. That was about 5 minutes before my first post. Just an FYI.

I had a friend from another forum who was trying to join today and said all he could get was a big red X. I told him to hang in there for now, and if the registration doesn't go through soon, I'd contact an Admin. I hope he can make it. Greatguns will make a GREAT addition! Sounds like that is my q...
