91/30 stock marking
Would you folks think this is a Hungarian mark on the stock, just in front of the right finger groove. The rifle is a '43 Izhevsk 91/30.

Mosins can be like a box of chocolates......
I had been keeping my modest collection to Izhevsk rifles, but at a recent gun show I found this nice wartime Tula on a table, and the vendor didn't think it was made of gold, so I bought it. It is really nice for a wartime gun, the machine work was the quality of the pre-war stuff and the stock had...

Now, thats what I call "patina" I wouldn't fire that one, without having it checked out by a competent gunsmith.desdem12 wrote:![]()

Re: Highly Polished presentation...yea, right....question
Pics and range report: This rifle shot well and did indeed bruise my shoulder. Shooting at 65 yards I was able to keep all of the rounds fired on a 9" paper pie plate and 2/3 of them in a 3" circle. I have a feeling this rifle shoots a lot better than I do. Sorry about the photo quality, I...

Custer the Clusterf......dam fool got himself and his men killed, but the man did have balls, no brains at all, but pleanty of balls. Yea, balls alright, I wonder if he was buried with or without his. He did have brains, but his ego was too big for his and his men's own good. The difference in Cust...

Re: Highly Polished presentation...yea, right....question
Thanks for that JYD. It really does appear that the blue was removed on purpose, and diligently. This one has no ep numbers, just mismatching parts. Who knows, maybe sometime in the future every Mosin collector will be paying big bucks for a "sand buffed" M-44, and worrying if their's is f...

" My question is what in the world would you do to remove all of the finish? It almost looks intentional. " Nothing. Wipe it down with some lemon oil and let it be. It took a long time to get that ugly, leave it. I didn't phrase my question properly. The question was what did the Russians...

Highly Polished presentation...yea, right....question
Before I start, my camera died yesterday and won't be replaced for a week or so. I ordered a beater Mosin M-44 at a bargain price and it arrived yesterday. The rifle is a '45 Izhevsk that I needed to fill a date slot and is about as un collectable as a Mosin can be. Only the butt-plate matches the b...

To buy my last M-91, I sold my wife's car to an illegal alien who was on his way back to Mexico for $350.00. (She is really gonna miss that '63 Vett)

My T-53 is in nice condition, but came with a bolt and floor-plate that were un-serialized. Not scrubbed, just never stamped.

Nationality confused M-44
This rifle is the most mixed up rifle I own. No two serials match. It's good side is that it is an excellent shooter and has a fine bore and trigger. It was bought in The Spring of this year for $75.00 plus shipping. I wonder what nation last had this rifle in their inventory. Polish Barrel (1952) a...
