I have a M-44 that appears to have the mark of Factory 296 (Chongquing), the date of 1960 and two semi-circles that open in opposite directions, one that contains a dot and other an Arabic numeral 4. The serial number on both the stock and the receiver is prefixed with the letter E and matching Arab...

I am glad to be able to join the forum. I plan on doing some research for a friend on a 1960 Mosin-Nagant that made its way here from Asia some time ago.
