When empty, the bolt is quite loose, and I am able to open it with just a slight push.
this sounds like a job for OKIE HEADSPACE GAUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't pull trigger on that, might send the bolt out the back and hit the drill sergeant... then you know what will happen to you

Re: think fast....

Here are pics, if its not enough to know if this is a M38 on a 44 stock let me know where else I can look to be sure. Thanks sorry for being oblivious. The pics you posted is a bubba'ed Type 53 that has had the front sight/bayonet collar removed ( not the slot foe the pin) and replaced with an M38 ...

Re: think fast....

That would be an early Chinese Type 53 versus a Russian M38 or M44! The stocks on the Type 53 typically look like it was dragged behind a truck, ran over, then chewed on by a dog. So it's not a M38 its a type 53 made in China  good thing I only paid 150.00 for it. I will keep my eye out for th...

Re: think fast....

You people are saying the laminate M44 stock is on a M38  That's interesting but not surprising because the seller had no info on the firearm and the buyer (ME) only knows what I find out here. So is there any other way to recognize a M38 other than the lack of bayonet hardware and of course i...

Re: think fast....

I have a Hungarian m44 that feels like a extra brick is attached but the stock is beefier, or thicker. Most likely for the same reason as the laminate. So it's not uncommon to have carried 10-12 pounds of just rifle & ammunition plus all the other gear :o Complain about that weight to a guy who...

If you found the screws interesting on an M44 how do you feel about this escutcheon on a 91/30 or lack there of? I don't know if its missing parts or was made that way.

Re: think fast....

laminate vs solid stock yes, and I was surprised when I weighed it to be that much heavier... feels like it has a brick tied to it. If you are thinking to get a laminate know it comes with a noticeable difference. I had no choice but to replace it as the original was trashed, but if I was to do it ...

Re: How do I mount M91 Sling Correctly?

Agreed, buckles to bolt side... after countless video's and images viewed this would seem to be the most popular configuration. I find they store well in the rack when installed like this because you can quickly slide the band up and trail the sling as shown for managing.

It could also have been a M1917 Enfield. Wiki says maximum firing range of an M1917 Enfield is...
