This looks like what used to be called a Balkan rifle. I think you are right that it was an Austrian capture.

We have had a few over the years, but they were all mild. In fact I only ever felt 1 of them.

Mosins are cool and historical, but I would have zero interest in a new one.

H380 is good when the weather is not too cold, I had ignition issues with it in below freezing conditions.

If you use a bronze brush and oil, that rust will come off of there and not hurt the bluing that is left. Cool rifle.

Yeah, I'd say that rules out Finnish. I don't know which of the others it might be.

Where did yours come from? They looks like relics, and where they were found might give a clue.

Not all Finnish ones have the single hole. Some used the slotted escutcheon like the ones pictured.
