Surprisingly, it is not Finnish marked (or import marked). Just an original factory matching USSR era dragoon.

1928 Tula Dragoon, all matching

I just received the rifle that I won at auction a week (or so) ago. Auction photos were not very good. They showed full length photo of rifle, barrel markings, cut forend, and stock cartouche. Due to the look of the stock finish, and the 1928 stock cartouche, I took a chance the rifle was all matchi...

Re: M91 New England Westinghouse with no import marks

U.S. surcharged Westinghouse. I do not know the history of these rifles, although I do have the book that would explain some of it (Clawson's book). It's hard to tell if the stock's finish was messed with. Looks like it in the first photo; however, subsequent photos look OK. Some of the walnut stock...

Re: Gen 1 Mosin? Pawn shop find from a totally uninformed buyer

1) Don't mess with it. Don't try to "rehydrate" the wood. Don't try to remove the finish. Don't try to add some "protective" finish to the wood. 2) The 1st kid, if he had any smarts, would have done anything possible to get $250 for that rifle. It's likely worth, as is, close to ...

Re: PL marked M39 Finn rifles

I have 206692. Your list shows March of 2018. My photos are dated November of 2019--so, previous owner must have offloaded not long after. It's a straight stock, matching bolt, non matching magazine floorplate. Sako marked stock. Very little bluing left. Bolt photo is blurry, but you can see a numbe...

It's likely an assembly number. I have the same type of marking on my 1932 VKT

Re: Mosin Nagant bolt won’t close

Filing rough edges on an extractor harms nothing and actually helps if the extractor has edges that are too sharp. I've had one that was digging into the cartridge wall. Removed the extractor, and took a few strokes with a file. If you don't want to do it, that's your choice, but it is needed on som...

Re: Mosin Nagant bolt won’t close

There are a few things that could be going on: 1. Fouling, rust, ruptured case in the shoulder of the chamber or where the neck of the round enters the chamber. 2. Too long of a bolt head. As far as I know, Russia/Soviets did make longer bolt heads to address head space issues. I would think those w...

Re: New user, new PU authenticity check :)

I'm likely late to the show on this. The photos were of high enough resolution that I was able to zoom in and see stuff. Mount and scope are real. Mount looks like it may have the Izhvesk triangle/arrow marking. Prefix of the serial number on the rifle falls in the range of a sniper rifle for 1944 I...

I'll do one of Atlantic Firearms RPK. Bought their 2nd batch. First batch was only $899 and they raised the price by $50. They're a bit more now.

Re: 1918 Tula question

Necro thread revival... I was looking up 1918 Tula for some reason, and came across this older thread. I've seen it before when looking these up. I have a 1918 Tula that still has the Imperial markings on the barrel and receiver. Serial number is about 40,000 difference from Neal's. On mine, you can...

Re: Jaw dropping pricing

If you plan on selling, this is probably the tail end of crazy prices. I would expect cheaper stuff as people have to sell due to the economy and probable job losses. Also, people aren't going to be able to afford paying 2-3 times market value for stuff. So, that should dampen prices. Within the pas...

I have no idea where there are any more of these. I came across some and bought them immediately due to the impossibility of finding them. I bought them all thinking I would do people a favor. I was surprised there wasn't much interest because these springs are frequently broken--I figure people wer...
