Re: Help needed

As racerguy stated, rare/uncommon conversion of an M91 to a 91/30.

Re: Dragoons

These are really nice rifles. I tried to find one but usually they are overpriced or condition is not good/wrong(trashed, mismatched, stock from m91/30 etc) Most of the ones you find are going to be Finnish marked dragoons. And, most will have a Finnish matching bolt with the other parts being a mi...

Re: Dragoons

Last one is my most recent purchase. 1928 Tula dragoon. It's original, all matching. No import markings and a duffle cut on fore end. Somehow, this one got missed by a lot of folks (thank God). It's pretty rare to find one that is original all matching, and these usually carry a pretty hefty price t...

Re: Dragoons

2nd one I picked up from a Facebook group a few years ago. 1905 Izhevsk used by Finland. SA marked barrel. Renumbered rear sight base. Stock is a Soviet era Izhevsk stock (based on inspector stamp--I cannot recall what the stamp is, nor can I make it out in the photos). Has a neat repair on the fore...

Dragoons

I haven't posted some of these in a while. First is one of my earliest Mosin rifles. Saw it on an auction site, and then it disappeared. Contacted the auction company, and they were kind enough to arrange contact between the estate and me. Not sure why they removed it, but was able to purchase it fr...

Re: Help needed

We would need to see photos of the scope and mount. If I remember correctly, the reproduction scopes all had 1942 dates. So, the scope might be a reproduction. If so, that price is too high, imo.

Re: M28 30 Un-numbered bolt question

Rifle could have been missing a bolt and new owner purchased a spare bolt.

Re: new rifle

Your rifle is an M28/30. Shame about the paint. Looks like it was in really good condition. The paint should come off the metal with some work. I don't think there is any way to remove that paint without removing some of the original finish from the wood. I'd be tempted to try very light sanding wit...

Re: Rarest & most uncommon Mosin Nagant in your Collection

1928 Dragoon. All original factory matching. Stock has the original finish. Duffle cut forend. The only thing missing was the cleaning rod (it came with a Mauser cleaning rod). Using a spare rod as a holder. Rifle is not Finnish marked, and has no import markings. So, it somehow missed the 1930s upg...

Re: 1895 Dated Mosin Nagant Cossack?

I just looked on Ebay for stocks...wow! I'd just wait a while and check the trader every now and then. I thought $60 was pretty high for a stock--these people are asking $160 for stocks with no hardware. To hell with that!

Re: 1895 Dated Mosin Nagant Cossack?

I would look for a used stock rather than a refurb 91/30 stock that as the shiny varnish. It is a Cossack, and you got a great deal on that. Wouldn't take much to un-bubba....you'll just need to wait to find the right parts. A 91/30 stock with Finn spliced fore end will work. Even if you have to pay...

Re: Polish 91/98/25

With the rarity of M91 hand guards (and the cost), I would purchase a reproduction hand guard (or leave it as is) unless the M91 hand guard is already broken. The M91 hand guards currently sell for $150 and up. There was a person who had a few extra brass ends for sale--I think it was on another for...

Re: Polish 91/98/25

I've seen quite a few of these that were cut at the fore end--but the fore end wasn't missing (nor the other associated parts). I don't know if Poland spliced the fore ends on some of these, and they came apart. The rifles are so lightweight it seems odd to remove the fore end to save weight (but, b...

Re: Polish 91/98/25

These have variations on the sling swivels. I own one that is missing the forend, hand guard, and other associated parts. It did/does (amazingly) retain the rear band. I have the parts to make it "whole" again. I've just never found anybody who is good enough with woodworking to do the job...

Re: M28 and M28/30 Review .... Post your M28's and M28-30's

I sold my one 28/30 a few years ago, and just bought this one. Appears to have original stock and a replacement (matching) bolt. Hand guard is cracked towards the front band. Marathon import. Barrel still has bushing.

Re: Sniper rifle marks

It is an ex sniper. Crossed hammer is a refurb/repair facility marking. Marks on stock are inspection marks. This link will provide all (almost all) information on the markings. There is also a section on sniper rifles. app.php/page/59
