1914 PTG M91 converted to 91/38
I took some better photograps of a 91/38 Mosin I purchased a few years ago. Rifle was a WW1 captured M91 long rifle that was subsequently converted into a carbine after WW2. I cannot verify, but I've seen it stated that the "R" marking was applied by Hungary. Rifle was a PTG. The eagles we...

Re: BATF email to me (and FFL's)
I received an email like that too, or a text message. Can't remember which. I think mine mentioned a business being broken into and firearms being stolen, with the storage reminder to keep your firearms locked up.

Re: Rarest & most uncommon Mosin Nagant in your Collection
This one has a lot of rare/uncommon stuff going on. First off, it was a 1918 dated Tula M91. Any 1918 dated M91 from a Russian factory (Sestroretsk, Izhevsk, or Tula) is rare. I can count the number I've seen from any of these factories on one hand. Second, this rifle would have been made after the ...

Re: Puolustuslaitos Marked M39 Database Index
That's a lot of work. I saw mine on there, but no info. Serial number 206692. Bought it on auction in the fall of 2019 for a surprising low amount. It's straight stock (obviously wartime then). Sako stock. I don't know the receiver date/tang marking. It is a hex receiver, with no number on the buttp...

Re: 1924 Tula M91
I see that. I was looking in the Knowledge base for the PM. I thought I'd seen it listed as "unknown". can't find it now. ? I was trying to find info on that. Ratnik has a really informative site (www.m9130.info), and I thought it mentioned the PM marking. Regardless, I believe it is a ma...

I was going to retake it as I noticed some of the photos were a little blurry when I looked at them on my PC. Didn't retake this one as I forgo...

Photo of the tang, stock repair, rear sight base, other serial numbers on bolt, and repair depot marking--photos probably won't be in order.

1924 Tula M91
Took some outdoor photos of a rifle I bought in 2015. I was new to collecting, and paid a good bit for it at the time--I think the "paid too early" for it justification still doesn't match current value. Regardless, it's a more common year of the later Soviet made M91s. I think the Izhevsk...

Re: 1917 Remington Finnish Capture question about stock
From the photographs, I see nothing but a Finnish stock in its correct state. The Finnish NOS (new old stock--term usually used to refer to stocks that are "new") do show sanding marks. There isn't anything wrong with your stock. Nobody sanded it after import.

Re: 1917 Remington Finnish Capture question about stock
Why buy something if you don't like the look of it? If you aren't happy with the rifle, rather than ruining the stock, sell it and wait for one that you really like. Finnish used Remingtons aren't very rare, and they do come up for sale. Prices may be high, but that means you can also sell yours for...

Re: Disposal of C&R collection
As far as legality, the buyer needs an FFL transfer. PA allows face to face sales of rifles and shotguns. I'm not certain about "firearms". Pistols need to be transferred through an FFL. C&R pistols can be sent to an FFL03--or sold face to face to another FFL03 (at least they can be so...

Re: Are these worth anything?
Yes, Russian and Soviet production total of all Mosins (M91 long rifles, Dragoons, M1907s, snipers, 91/30s, M38s, and M44s) was about in the 30-37 million range.

Re: Are these worth anything?
Not sure if you guys don't believe there are new Mosin imports coming in or don't want to believe it, but the truth is there are and there have been. Rear sights are pinned at 300m and Century/Sarco has warehouses full they are importing from Ukraine. Just like IO has warehouses full of Carcanos,. ...

I haven't paid market prices for 91/30s, but I frequently see people online saying they are paying over $300 for them.

Larger band goes to the rear. The larger band often slides over the smaller band when you disassemble the rifle. The split of the bands are to be on the bottom.

Re: 1897 info
1897 Sestroretsk M91. Used by Finland. Stock looks like a Finnish stock, and it looks like it's in good condition. "SA" is a Finnish marking as well as the "D". SA is a Finnish Army property marking. A lot of the markings are going to be factory, acceptance, or inspector markings.
