Re: 91/30 barrel measurements. Tapered mosin barrel?

Once again we enter the territory of Communist parts interchangeability and quality control. This was a system were close was good enough, there will be small variations between arsenals in the same country, arsenals in other country's, batches of rifles or parts made in the same arsenal but at dif...

I have a 1939 Tula 91/30 and was unable to get my bayonet on. I grabbed my calipers and took some outside measurement and got these figures At Crown - 14.73mm 25mm from crown - 14.84mm 50mm from crown - 15.19mm 75mm from crown - 15.38mm Front end of top handguard - 15.43mm Any ideas what could have ...

Re: I thinki figured out why my interrupter wasn't working

Sorry, I need to link my old post. i was having issues with the interrupter holding dummy rounds down. When I used live rounds, it functioned 100% every time.

I think i figured out why my interrupter wasn't working

I was a the range yesterday with my M38 and the magazine functioned properly. I am thinking that the fact that I was using brass dummy rounds that are lighter than live cartridges is having something to do with it.

what say the hive?

Re: Magazine interrupter not working with 5 loaded rounds.

Maybe I'm not reading this right but the fifth or top round won't be depressed (below the interuptor) when there's 5 rounds in the magazine. Four will be below the interrupter and the fifth will be above it. Or do you mean you can load four rounds and they go below the interrupter (and stay there) ...

Magazine interrupter not working with 5 loaded rounds.

I have a 1927 91/30 and when I have 5 rounds loaded in the magazine, he interrupter is not keeping the next round depressed. When there are 4 or fewer rounds loaded, it works just fine.

Any suggestions?

Cleaning question

quick question. I was cleaning my M38 after shooting it (noncorrosive ) and no matter how many times or how long i clean it, patches still come out black when using Hoppes 9 or breakfree. Is there any special trick to cleaning the bore and chamber other than scrubbing it with a bore brush and patchi...

Re: Bolt sticks after 4th round every time,

That is what I figured. I was just thinking that there might be something else because it was on the 4th round of every magazine.

I am guessing that rounds 1-4 heat it up to where round 4 sticks and as i am screwing with it to get it out, it cools off until the next 4th round or so.

Bolt sticks after 4th round every time,

I have 1927 Tula 91/30. I went out yesterday and shot both it and my M38. Well, on the 91/30, I would load up the magazine with 5 rounds, and whenever I would fire the 4th, the bolt would stick upon extraction. After opening it with a rubber mallet, wit would feed and extract the 5th round perfectly...

Re: Mosin M38. An offer I couldnt refuse

It is most deff an M38 stock. no groove on the upper right side of the receiver

Had some people on gunboards say that the slings are pressed in sling slot escutcheon possibly making it a late war M38.

Just interesting. whether or not it is, i just love the way it looks.

Re: Mosin M38. An offer I couldnt refuse

Had someone tell me that it could quite possibly be a late war M38 stock which makes it a bit more uncommon since by then they were all in M44's

Mosin M38. An offer I couldnt refuse

So even though I just bought some 91/30's, i found an offer for a M38 that I could not refuse. All matching with M38(not a M44) stock for $200 Got it for $180 M38 on top with my Type53 on bottom (Yea I know, ChiCom sling, but it isnt as stiff as the one it came with. Re: Picked up my first Mosins today

ImageThanks, I put the Hex back in the original stock. I have the metal stock plates for them both, but I am going to keep the "recoil" pads on them for now because I like the LoP with them on.

Picked up my first Mosins today

Picked up 2 91/30's today for a good price. They are both Tula and one is a very good 1927 Hex receiver (all matching except the steel butt plate) and the other is a 1939 Standard (all matching except the magazine follower and bolt) that looks as if it's been used at the front killing Nazis. They ha...
