Broke in the new 3wt rod

Went out this morning with my dad. Had an awesome time. This was the first trip with the new 7ft 6 3wt classic trout rod. Used an okuma sierra reel and a hook and hackle line. Made a nice little outfit for the money. I caught maybe 7-8 green sunfish and three trout yay! One brown and two rainbows. O...

Re: First trout fishing trip ever

Sweet! I'd like to try it again sometime. Gotta study up on the habits of the species. We were a bit unprepared. Probably the cause of the few that was caught. Tough trying to maneuver a 9ft fly rod n the tight areas.

Right as we got in the park I found this random guy in the middle of the walk way lol. http://i1041.photobucket.com/albums/b411/ponycarman/Random%20stu...

Awesome day at the lake!

Had an excellent day on the water today! Beautiful scenery! http://i1041.photobucket.com/albums/b411/ponycarman/Random%20stuff/CAM00815_zpsu8xj0dme.jpg Finally caught something on my own flys. Caught the first fish of the day on a small black spider/knat thing with a red tail. Also caught a couple f...

Re: Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

Never have tried them. I have never had an issue with the standard style stock. I like how they handle, feel, and look traditional. Maybe someday I'll give one a shot.

Re: Fly fishing

Thanks Tennessee!

Those foam spiders work very well. Got the big one with it. Only had two and lost them both lol. I guess losing 3 flys in the first day isn't too bad.

Re: Fly fishing

Yep I'm still at it haha. Those are massive bluegill. The fish around don't seem to be interested in those little hula poppers. I have tried a couple. The bigger ones are a bit more rare to find though haha. Caught one bass today. It was a tiny one. Only a few inches long lol.

Re: Fly fishing

Yes sir!

Thats how I look at it too haha. Caught some fish, got some practice, and had a blast. I would call that a success  .

Other good things:
Didn't fall in
Didn't hook myself haha
Didn't break any major equipment

It was a good day

Re: Fly fishing

Today was a day of firsts. First solo fishing trip (I have always gone with someone else), first time fly fishing, and first time using a telescopic cane pole. Boy was it fun. Had a great time! Caught 4-5 fish on the fly setup and about the same on the cane pole. About 8-10 fish. I stopped counting ...

Re: Fly fishing

Haha ain't no fish that big in these lakes. They are fairly small compared to some other lakes in my area. No matter, I like them. Good scenery if I don't catch anything haha. Plus if I hook something like that my glock will be getting a workout

Re: Fly fishing

Sounds like a neat bamboo rod. They are some of the most expensive ones from what I've seen. I'm sure it is probably quite valuable like milman said. Maybe drip some antiseaze or wax on the joints to free them up. I'm gonna give it a shot tomorrow. Hope I catch something haha. Anything that swims wo...

I prefer more standard hollow points. I'll try a few types. Who knows, it might like everything haha

Re: My 1911's new outfit.

I'll try a couple to see. I like the hornady critical defense and duty lines. Might give gold dots a try as well. I don't have any yet. I'll grab some eventually lol.
