Re: Japanese Trainer-1917 Remington M91
Was the bolt bent by the Japanese, I was wondering if any other examples with a similar bent bolt? Pretty cool rifle  I wouldn't think so since Type 99's used a straight bolt as well. You can see at the base of the bolt handle where the finish is slightly darker from the exposed flame and...

Japanese Trainer-1917 Remington M91
I haven't posted here in a while and sharing a rifle I picked up after Thanksgiving (shared on FB). I couldn't pass it up when I saw it at a local gun show. I plan on taking it to Tulsa in April to try trading on a/some nice Finns. It is a neat US surcharged 1917 Remington Japanese trainer stamped H...

I went ahead and ordered the Pa63 spring pack so if it works great. If not, all the more reason to buy the Pa-63 they had and try the Walther PP/PPK springs next. It might not top the Nagant but it's close I would guesstimate pushing close to #20

Re: New Oddball- .32acp Romanian M94 Carpati
That would be nice, I am just curious which spring pak I should buy. Should I go with Walther PP or FEG Pa-63 springs? A new grip would be nice too seeing how it is not leftie friendly at all.Longcolt44 wrote:Nice little pistol. Wolfe springs can fix that heavy trigger problem.

New Oddball- .32acp Romanian M94 Carpati
I found this little oddball locally and couldn't pass it up at $180. They seem to have been common in the early 2000's but not that common in the past few years. The most interesting aspect is the sketchy history of how Century imported them and had them marked as "FEG Hungary MD. 74" pist...

Re: which mosin
My favorite to shoot is a tough choice. It is a close call between my B M39 and 1939 M28-30 and they are dead on at 100m (No need for taller post WIN). I had a blast shooting golf balls that were scattered on the berms at our local "range." At 100m its fun to see golf ball, then fire and n...

Overall it wasn't the best day. The local gun show was a bust and the round trip to the local LGS/pawn stores came up empty (1 T53 at an exuberant price). As well, I lost the good majority of auctions on various rifles & ammo while I was at it. I did however win some pretty cool ammo at an onlin...

Re: Finnish sling ID.
Thanks Zeebill. I picked this up for $10.00 and it was with another M39 sling that I didn't buy. I slapped it on my M27 (has Ski trooper sling mounts). I was just curious since I've seen similar slings but with C.G. markings.

Finnish sling ID.
I'm looking to get a positive ID on this sling. It is a soft leather and has a faint Friitalan Nahkatehdas OY marking but no SKY civil guard marks. I haven't seen any M39 with this style of leather and without the civil guard mark I thought it could be M27? Any ideas to which model and its approxima...

You don't happen to have a time machine? It looks like you went back and picked it right off the assembly line.

Re: Local auction - several MNs
I was lucky enough this weekend to get a pretty nice Chilean M1895 bayonet for $35.00 shipped from an auction. On another auction hosting site (liveauctioneers maybe) I won my 1904 Dragoon for $320 after the fee, and they called 20 mins after auction ended around 10:30pm Saturday, got my shipping an...

Re: Bladed bayonets?
Hmm, I have never seen Soviet blade bayonets before and only know of the German Ersatz conversions. I scanned through that episode on Youtube and only found a section with Blade bayonets and they look like SVT40's at the 30:20 mark.

Re: So What have I got ?
The Persian 98/29 were selling for $300 w/ little (no) bluing from samco years ago in the states so one in this condition would definitely demand more of a premium. Unsure of Canada's supply of these rifles but like JYD said, you stole it.

Re: Local auction - several MNs
I've seen it go both ways, highly valuable stuff go for cheap and common items and junk sell for stupid prices. I've made a few good deals on there especially on AK mags. Spent $75 on 3 Hk33 mags, 3 5.56 Weiger mags and a 15rd Chinese Type 84s mag which I flipped for a comfortable profit. Then got i...

Re: 8X56R Headstamped 1938 Value?
I bought 4 unopened boxes of it for $15.00 per box. The Nazis must have made a ton of it in '38, I have never seen any other date. I bought my first 10 years ago. I've only seen a few rounds that are not 1938 Nazi marked. A few of my rounds are 1937 & 1938 with Austrian/Hirtenberger marking and...

Re: MAS 36- why so little interest?
I finally picked me up a MAS36 and can finally fire the 90rds of surplus that I've been sitting on. They came off AA52 belts and would only fire the second time around after my MAS 49/56 made a pretty good dent in the primer. So far it's a bit odd in the hands, bolt and safety are a bit weird and th...

Re: Debating Which Rifle To Get Next
Their have been some reported issues from the current batch of Romanian 8mm that doesn't want to chamber in some rifles. I personally cannot attest to this since I am still sitting on some of my Yugo & Egyptian surplus. I own both and I would lean towards the Swiss K31 and GP11 can be reloaded w...

Re: Valentine's Win--M28, M28/30 & others.
The M28 looks to have been recent (within the last few years) and the M28/30 might be refinished as well but quite a bit longer. I just picked up a M27 tonight that is has the original finish and someone put a coat of lacquer over it. So far not doing that great as long as finding original finished ...

Re: Valentine's Win--M28, M28/30 & others.
The M28-30 appears to be a solid rifle and has a good bore. Other than the elusive meaning of the 2 marking the rifles has no oddities. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t95/Pip6214/Feb%20scores/20150213_200730_zpslhjgsxqo.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t95/Pip6214/Feb%20scores/20150213_200...
