Re: ANYONE KNOW SMLE?
Looks to be a No4 MkI Enfield. So far looks all correct as issued. Not exactly minty but well worth $250.00USD. Mint No4 MkI's are going these days for $395-$495.00USD. Bore condition is important. IMO the British No4 MkI is the best battle bolt action rifle ever made. Mosin-Nagant 91/30 IMO 2nd bes...

Not sure about this but I think the buckle goes on the right side ( bolt side ) of the rifle.

Re: Need your advice on a new carry revolver
Go with the S&W. Smiths just seem to fit my hands better be they J,K,L, or N frame. I have found S&W to have very good customer service although can be a tad slow like most gun companies. However, local gunsmiths always seem to have plenty of experience with Smiths and can do the job.

Re: New Acquisition Bulgarian Makarov - Should be C&R But Is
I believe the reason East German and Russian Maks are C&R is because of the convoluted thinking of the ATF that East Germany and USSR are no longer countries, but former countries. The Russia of today is not your father's USSR. Bulgaria is still Bulgaria with the same borders. Go figure!

Could those two round holes in the stock be for Finnish sling swivels?

Re: 1936 Tula 91/30 SA/Finn PUOLUSTUSLAITOS
I would. ( pay $500.00 ) As long as SavageDennis did the restoration in a complete "like original" manner and the rifle had an excellent bore that had not been counter-bored. Hey, that's just me, I find that PL mark just fascinating along with the additional boxed SA.

Re: Smith & Wesson Model 31-1 Snubnose
Are you absolutely sure it was never fired. Gun Store personal like to say that to close a sale. Do you know or can you tell if it has ever been shot? Maybe the little old lady bought it used or her late husband shot it. Anyway, I don't think a box or two of ammo will hurt it or lessen value a heck ...

MeatMarket, I just checked Bob'Gun Parts-closed until January 5th 2015, Hoosier Gun Works, and the Clip Depot. No dice. There is always Triple K Magazines, but I (and a lot of other people) don't recommend them. You are right, $200.00USD is outrageous!!!

Re: What to do with M1891
Yes, definitely replace the missing parts. Think of it (M1891) as having been wounded in battle or while being held prisoner and needing care, isn't that what you would want to happen to you if you were wounded/injured? -Sorry for this analogy but I'm on my 3rd Eggnog!

Re: So...I know very little about the legalities of buy/sell
The problem happens with BUYING and selling. Buy 10 and sell 10, buy 15 and sell 14. If you have a large collection and are getting up there in years and you SELL 20 and buy 2, sell 18 and don't buy anything, sell 97 and buy 5, no problem. It is the repetitive buying and selling that "gets"...

Re: My First Spanish C&R - Astra 600
Indeed. Think of the Astra 300 as a "baby" Astra 600. Over the years (about 40 years) I have seen only two Astra 300's, over those same years I have seen dozens of Astra 600's and maybe 8-10 individual Astra 400's.

The Astra 600 German Contract pistols were indeed manufactured in 9mm parabellum. The Astra 300 was manufacture in both 9mm Kurtz ( .380 ) and 7.65.

Re: Questions and opinions on my first Enfield No 1 Mk III
I don't think you stated what you paid but around here #1Mk3's are $350.00USD ish and up. I can't remember where but recently saw some 1907 bayonet scabbards on the loose for sale. Soooo, rifle, bayonet sans scabbard, 50 rounds of good Sud Afrika ammo, I think you did pretty well if under $350.00.

Re: Wohoo I just got my mosin 91/ 30
Could you show some pictures of the markings on top of the receiver, that is most important? Also, have you checked the stabbing ability of the bayonet? Those cute little pun'kins on the table (next to those tantalizing m&m cookies) would be candidates for the bayonet "stab" test.

Re: Current pricing on SCW Mosin?
Junk Yard Dog is right on the money of a value of $250-$350.USD for a SCW Mosin. A M91 with a 1914 date WITH the "Made In USSR stamp is very unique and rare. You can't go wrong with purchasing that rifle.

Re: Long Branch-branch out
In my opinion Long Branch #4's are the best made. $250 USD is not bad these days for mis-matched numbers. Actually it is a pretty good price with the excellent bore and the spike bayonet. You did well!!

The Canadian Long Branch Enfields are one of the best made of the #4 MkI series. $250.00USD is a heck of a good deal even if non-matching!

Re: Savage No4 MkI
Just for the heck of it and if you feel like doing it, take off the upper handguard and look at the top of the barrel. It probably has the original barrel, but if re-barreled by the South Africans with one of their own manufactured barrels you might find a crossed guided missile and arrow from the 1...

I think you did great! What's not to like? That Type 53 has what I consider to be really decent wood. I have seen Type 53 wood much, much worse.

Re: Picked up a WWII Beretta
That 4UT is a German contract is true. My former neighbor was a WW II veteran and he showed me a Beretta 4UT and holster that he took from a German soldier when my former neighbor was in Northern Italy in (I think) late 1944. The Germans were in caves in the mountains. He even had pictures of himsel...
