Re: Oldest T53 With or Without

Hi Vance, I just quickly did the math on 1,876,179 units in 1 year. Assuming that was for a complete year that comes to about 210 units per hour non stop 24/7 for a year. Perhaps they numbers them in a different way rather than sequentially? I can't imagine that kind of production. Does anyone know...

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.

March 1955 is the last month for T53 to show production month on barrel. The largest serial number that I know for 1955.3. is 1402224 The smallest serial number that I know for 1955 (without month) is 3002143 (made in April 1955) Factory 296 was reorganized to be factory 26 around Mar. 1955, so a n...

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.

As yiping reminded me, we need to keep in mind that we are seeing only a few T53s in this country. There are many more still in China and the other communist states that received them.

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.

Ok, well..... That's not even close to accurate. That's looking at the serial numbers as a simple subtraction problem. Since posting that, I have come up with some information that was probably already well known. I am compiling some data about the production of T53s and I am accumulating informatio...

Thanks for the help. I was too focused on the toolbar, I guess.

Here is a photo of the 1954.1

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.

I will post a pic as soon as I figure out a hosting site and how to link it. I guess you can't upload to this site? FYI, there's a wealth of information on the Gunboards.com site. There are a couple of threads that concern the T53, one in particular about the development, usage, and collecting of th...

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.

As I said, I have a 1954.1 with the A series, shi stamped serial# . So they did continue with the shi stamped trials carbines until at least January 1954.

The reason they stopped the shi stamp was that the trials were done, and the carbine was set into full scale production.

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.

So, I did some figuring, just for fun, with my 1955s to see what the number spread was between my 1955/1 and the highest serial number on my un-monthed 1955. There is a difference of 1,838,179 between them! They produced some carbines in 1955!

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am following this with interest, as I have a similar question. It probably belongs in a new thread, but I also have some information/comments concerning your inquiry about the earliest T53. The #1 T53, serial# A000001shi, is at the National Firearms Museum at the NRA hea...
