Re: Mosin M44
Thanks for passing that along, I've been looking for a M44 ever since I brought the 91/30 home! Sent him a note, looks like it has matching numbers on the buttplate and receiver.

Range Day
Finally was able to get the Mosin out to the range, put about 25 rounds downrange, above and right of POA without bayonet and just about POA with it on. Now if I could fix my shot groups I'd be ok! All at 50 yards: 1st group was prone without bayonet 2ng group is prone with bayonet the few in red tr...

Re: Period Correct Ammo Pouch
Yeah, it is certainly old, also wanted to see if anyone pointed out it was Polish, Finn, or something else but it appears consensus is Soviet so far. Then again, repro dudes have been getting good lately.

Re: Period Correct Ammo Pouch
Thanks for the input! As for marks, there appears to be two places where you can VERY faintly make out what may have been a square or remnants of some form of stamp, but it looks the part so I'll keep it with my 42 for now, onward to the rest of the period accessories for her if I can find them! For...

Period Correct Ammo Pouch
Hey all- I like to have period matching stuff with my rifles so looked around for an ammo pouch for my 1942 Mosin, I know there is a bunch of repros out there and wanted your thoughts on this one. Thanks! It does match one I saw here: http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinAcc.htm Can't find/make out any ...

Re: Looking to add a T-53, is this overpriced?
Thanks for the input. I was able to head back and take another look at it. It was missing the cleaning rod and did look to have an import mark on the left side of the receiver, really faded but you could see the word "China" there. Did not look to have been refurb at any point. Going to pa...

Looking to add a T-53, is this overpriced?
Ran into a Chinese T-53 this morning at a LG-Show, it is a 1955.1 T-53, the buttplate and magazine well #'s match. Stock wasn't in the best condition, sound and all, but looks like it may have been sanded or just seen a lot of use. Bayonet looked attached and in good shape, didn't see any #'s on it....

Re: Pix of my 1943 Mosin
It is a 1943 Izhevsk. The Triangle with the fetched arrow is from their arsenal. You'll see a smaller version of it on the parts if they were made there as well. You may also see some with a small star, those were from Tula and sometimes make their way to the Ishevsk rifles in the refurb or fixing p...

Re: stock
Hey - I'm new to Mosins as well but am pretty sure this is how you can get it out - First you need to unscew both action bolts and remove the barrel-receiver assembly from the stock. Then you can see the top of the cleaning rod piece with a small threaded hole on top in the stock, and according to 7...

Re: New member, first Mosin
Thanks for all the comments, I am really happy with it! thank you for the links, have spent some time checking out all the different markings to look out for as well. All seems to be in order just a loose trigger at the moment, but it is a 2-stage so expected a little play there. Question on the ref...

New member, first Mosin
Hey all, great forum here, wanted to say hello and show off my first (of many in the future I can only imagine) Mosin. Got is at a LGS, from all the markings I believe it to be a 1942 Izhevsk round receiver, war-era stock refurb, with matching serial #s on the butt plate, bolt, and bottom of magazin...
