I think you may have a Russian SKS. The sling looks right too. What is the info on it ?

I carried my Inland war baby to my deer stand two days ago, I didn't use it but it wasn't bad on a 6 mile jaunt.

Re: Strange 91/30, what is the deal?
The Tula arsenal got captured in '41. A lot of half finished rifles got shipped to Izhevsk, finished in a hurry and sent to the front. That one started as an izhevsk, but a lot of both got made in a hurry in '41. Marks got lightly stamped or not at all sometimes.

It got upgraded from pre war sling slots to open wood slots ? Why? Did Bubba do it ? I'm not sure what I'm seeing, besides a Commie rifle with the Mark of the Beast.

Re: Finn rifle question
These rifles were assembled from a mix of good used and new parts, that's normal for the Finn built, or rebuilt M91's. Looks like someone did some modifying at the wrist of the stock, maybe they had smaller hands so they removed a bit of wood from the sides. The receiver was made in 1913, the barre...

Re: The heat has driven me inside
Thanks guys. Each one is getting better, I would do great back in Cub Scouts again! Good job Steve. You got a stiching machine ? I went to work part time at a leather shop this year, I like the work. We are doing mass production now though, making 10,000 belts for Delta airline. Oh, no. Hand stitch...

Re: S&W loan/lease .38 marking
Good info Mike. The letter on the left is just a hole, a chunk gone. That is definitely an 8. Maybe they broke their B stamp. I think figure #2 is the right one, thanks. This pistol has the W.B. and flaming bomb on the butt as well as all the British proofs. It does have P stamp indicating 35-36 if...

This is a British marking on my S&W pre Victory loan lease .38 spec. I'm hoping somebody savvy with the Brit stuff will know what it means.

Where did the stock come from ? Every picture of every T 53 googled has the sling holes . And there is no cross bolt. Good question..... The only stock I've seen without the cross bolt and with no sling slots was an early M91.... If thats not a NVA stock then where, the US ? It's not standard Chine...

That stock has been replaced. A VC carbine stock would be oily, dark and rough with possible spots of jungle rot, and would have holes for dog collars.Generalludd wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 9:57 am There aren’t any import markings that I know of, that’s why the guy who I got it from said it was a bring back from Vietnam.
