Re: Nepali “Brown Bess” mainspring

Thank you for the reply. The issue is fitting since these lock components were hand made in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. That is a skill that I lack.

Nepali “Brown Bess” mainspring

I have a kit built, IMA Nepali “Brown Bess.”

The musket needs a new mainspring that will have to be fit. In fact, a new mainspring might have to be made.

Can anyone recommend an experienced gunsmith who might take this on?

Thanks!

Re: 1929 Tula Bolt Handle Markings

It appears to be. The stock is numbered to the rifle, with the numbers in the wood of the stock behind the trigger guard.

1929 Tula Bolt Handle Markings

I have what appears to be a matching 1929 Tula Dragoon, no import mark, likely SCW with what may have been a blued bolt. Any idea what these markings are?

M39 Round Receiver - First Pics

I regret that I do not have a better camera, but as M39s with round receivers are rare, I will share what I have, now. With a better camera, better lighting and more time, I will re-post. Most unfortunately, the rear trigger guard screw is frozen, so I cannot yet ascertain the date of the receiver (...

That’s what I found as well. Always a good idea to consult the knowledge bank, though. Thank you! 🙂

G43/K43 Question

Did these rifles have a sling specifically used for them, or did they use the standard Kar98k sling?

Re: SVT 40

I will leave this to wiser minds to sort out, but it could also be a matter of a cheap camera, bright sunlight, a photo editing program where I was trying to work on clarity, and my own limitations. In real life, it's not glossy. Much more akin to the Guns International pics Darryl posted. To my eye...

SVT 40

I believe that these are getting harder to find (as with many milsurps), so I am happy to have finally picked one up.
