Re: Finn Captured 1936 Izhevsk 91/30

Very nice Miller Tyme! The stock has a very nice look to it. I really like where it looks like somebody tried to put barrel band removal grooves on it with a knife.

Re: Corrosive ammo, how to spot it ?

Corrosive residue is easily taken care of, especially in the 91/30. First brush/rag thru the bore saturated with windex/ammonia. Spray the bolt face and receiver with windex/amonia and blow it out with air. Then just clean like you would normally do. Ammonia on nitrates is like baking soda on acid....

Oh, I've had my fun with Armslist also. Had a grand total of 2 deals go o.k., then between unreturned emails, deals falling through, and morons who have no idea what they're doing, I don't even look anymore.

Nice! I've got one also, and its a more fun than a barrel of monkeys! Only problem I've had has been an occasional FTF with the drum, sticks have been 100%

Re: Well, this is interesting...DDR mark now debunked?

Yep, just another refurb mark. The only mark I'm looking for on a refurb is a [SA], that is, until, those are also faked for big bucks. I wonder if that hasn't already happened. Seems to be quite a few popping up the last year or so. Never heard of one, then all of a sudden, boom! Let a few out at ...

Re: 1942 Tula was in a fire

Don't even think about shooting it unless you can test the steel. If it got hot enough to discolor the barrel just in front of the rear barrel band, it got too hot. Before attempting to restore it you can always "proof test" it remotely by putting it in a good secured cradle like a lead sl...

Re: What is your Favorite Military Submachine Gun?

Give me a Suomi. 900 rpm, literally no recoil, deadly accurate, and easy to maintain. Oh and 71 rd drums rock! So good the Finns used them in a LMG role. Only downside is they're a heavy MF.

Re: Mosin Hard To Chamber Rounds

Might also want to check the extractor recess in the face of the chamber. If there is some crud in there, there won't be enough room to allow the extractor to snap over the rim of the case.

Re: Russian Import Ban

What a lot of people don't realize is that the firearms are just a small part of what the kalasnikov group makes. Cars, motorcycles, machinery, and plywood (we use their plywood at work) are just some of their other products.

I think that there has been a colossal clusterfuck over there today of horrendous proportions that will only make everything far worse, hundreds dead, civilian commercial airliner that was not Ukrainian or Russian in a million pieces for all the world to see. This is an act of degenerates, no matte...

Re: Curious

I used to do it regularly to well past 2000 meters, and hit the target better than 75% time on the first shot. But then, that was using the M68 105mm on a M60A3 and M1.

Re: Newbe with a question

I reload for the x54 round but all I've used is boxer brass. As far as the neck sizing question vs. full length, I set up my dies to use the case shoulder instead of the case rim for headspacing, sort of a partial full length resize. Works good, I've used it for years on rimmed cartridges, including...

Re: Reloading Russian ammo

You may be able to buy loaded ammo in 7.62x54 and x39 cheaper than reload it, but reloading gives you the opportunity to tune your loads for your rifle.
