Rifle Bluing

This is going to sound a complete newby question so sorry for sounding just a tad dumb when I ask this. I'm looking at buying a Finnish M39 which is described as having 'little remaining external bluing' and wondering how susceptible it will be to rust or any another possible long damage. We don't g...

Re: and yet another Mosin - an M38

We live on a mountain top in SW Washington state ever seen what a steel core 7.62x54r round does to a Fir tree? ever seen what it does to the motor block of an old Dodge 318? hit a piece of Basalt burried in the field with one round my son tell me the sound of a tumbling 54r richocett is as very in...

Re: The hard choice

As much as I think the donating body parts is a great idea, I think I prefer the 'layaway' idea. Three weeks seems a long time to go without food....hell I can just about going from breakfast to lunch without eating

The hard choice

Before anyone says it, I really do only have enough money for one and I'm already living off rahmen noodles :D I've been wanting an M38 or M44 ever since I got my 91/30 and today saw one for sale that is fairly local to me. The only problem is I also saw a 1934 hex Tula at a gun shop. Bit pricey at ...

I wasn't sure if I hit the target or it was just the shockwave of the bullet passing near it :D

Fun at the range

Went to the range with 1943 Izhevsk. It shot well for the first four rounds and then I'm looking at this. Still not quite sure how I managed to do it

My son wanted to get a rifle with his birthday money. Stopped by the local pawn shop on the way back from doing the big shop and we picked this up for $100.

Re: Heartbreaking

So they spend money to ruin a rifle forever and make it worth a lot less. As the saying goes down here in Texas...... 'You can't fix stupid'

Has anyone ever asked a Bubba why they ruined a such a good rifle?

Heartbreaking

While searching around the gun sites on the internet I saw this posting and nearly cried

'For sale: Sporterized finnish M39'

Not a scope on it, just butchered

Re: I think the value of Mosins are going to take off.......

I tried to convince my wife that the law in Texas states that once you have bought one Mosin you have to purchase, within six months, another with an equal or greater rarity value than the previous Mosin. She doesn't believe me

I'd love to get a pu sniper but I'm scared of getting stitched up. Think I'm gonna hunt down a carbine of some sort.

Houston, I have a problem

So a few months ago I got my first, and so far only 91/30. It's a 1943 Izhevsk, not rare and not worth much to anyone else. Except to me its my first nagant which makes its priceless. I'm guessing most reading this will know what my problem is.....I want another one, something different/slightly rare...

Re: Mosin-Nagant vs Michael Kors

Completely agree about which is the better investment. And some girls may think they look good walking about with a posh new purse, how awesome would they look walking about town with an M38 slung over their shoulder
