Re: Got my first Finnish rifle.......

Jesus Christ! It looks like at least SOMEBODY held on to their tax return.

There's so much ooh-ah about that pair, it's overwhelming. I can only perchance to dream. Is that a NEW bolt handle I spy?

Re: First time shooting a Mosin and first time poster

Welcome to the habit, Scott. These folks here will welcome you with open arms and feed your fire. Pictures of your rifles are like cheese on the burger to addicts. If you're truly stricken, you'll have another Mosin to show off by the end of September. :D Dive deep my friend, dive deep. Good luck ch...

Re: Interesting Markings

Here's pics of the '38 Soviet refurb. The stock is very dark and the mark is faint. You have to turn it toward the light to see it indoors. Another pic of the receiver. This is one that I was considering putting on the classifieds board soon. http://i620.photobucket.com/albums/tt283/huffmaster/photo...

Re: Interesting Markings

I have the same star, date and the mark to the right on a '38 Tula Soviet refurb. Except my date is 1940.

Yeah, what he said. A lot of "wow" moments.

My one word of advice on Mosin fever based on firsthand experience:

Read.

Put that computer to work and read EVERYTHING on Mosins. It helps feed the fire and quell the doubts. Google is my friend.

Purrrrty '39

Yes camera phones suck, and no, my crappy pictures don't do it justice. It's a lot more golden-y than it appears. Limited on space tonight. Maybe some outdoor shots tomorrow. I pulled this out of the hat at a LGS. They have one representative rifle on the shelf. If you want to buy one, they just rea...

Re: C&R book serial number - which one?

I have my C&R coming soon. Where would be the best place to get a bound book? Amazon?

Sorry, everybody starts somewhere.

Yeah, the safety is truly a boy dog.

Your first rifle's a Mosin? Nice choice! Go shoot it and you'll have another one in two weeks, tops. Welcome to cosmoline country.

Oh, I agree. Advertisers first. I was just making the comment after I got Centerfire's email. Free shipping is always nice.

Free shipping @ Centerfire Systems

Huh. Free shipping on firearms over $99.00

That would put laminated stock Mosins for $159.

Nice.

Re: Izhevsk Oiler

Thank you for the reply, Marcus. I'm not a Democratic legislator or Obama voter, but this post totally solves my sex lube container dilemma. Come to think of it, this arrow does have a phallic look about it. No more Waffle House. Now it stands for Wet and Hot. The wife will be thrilled. Thanks again!

Izhevsk Oiler

I know you guys probably have a hundred each of these things banging around, but it's my first one. I think it's neato. I dare say I like it better than the regular Waffle House oilers. (The term Waffle House oilers was coined by my pal Dcption by the way. He's member here, but he hasn't peeked out ...

Refurb sickness

LGS just got about 20 boxes in from Century. $139 plus tax. Dammit, dammit, dammit. Good Christ. I am so weak. This is horrible. When does it end? How many is enough? I can't catch the dragon! Why do they keep talking? I'm starting to smell like cosmoline and Hoppe's. Let me guess. Cosmoline has psy...

Re: Ran into a Few Issues

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. I assed up a beautiful '30 Tula hex by putting the wrong barrel band on first. And upside down. A very crappy first lesson to learn.

I've had good luck with JB bore paste and Hoppe's. If that won't get it out, it ain't supposed to come out. Shoot it.
