Local annual gun show.

Today we went to the only local annual gun show $10 for all three days, made it for two. I know we don't have a forum for them here, but they are old milsurp guns. As we walked in one of the first tables had a nice Krag-Jorgensen 30-40. If I was still working for my former employer, that vendor woul...

Re: WTB: Mosin M91 Stock

Are you still looking for a 91/30 stock? I have one I'm not going to use. It has no physical damage to it other than the usual scratches and a small ding or two. How much were you looking to spend including shipping? If you're interested shoot me a PM and let me know, we may be able to work somethin...

Re: SKS in NY?

I'm from the NYS wannabe, IL. I feel the same with milsurps, I don't want modified or sporterized, I like 'em original condition. I love the nostalgia and the history.

Re: 7.62x54r Reloads

Can't edit my previous post now so... I finally found a Lee Loader in 38 Special and used it. They are a little time consuming but the are fun and they make really good reloads. I also agree with the above post on digital scales, I have and use the beam scale that came with my Lee kit, but I bought ...

Re: What powders are you using for reloading for Mosins

Sometimes Graf and Sons has it on hand for $.50 a case IIRC. You have to catch them with it on hand and order it right away, it doesn't last long. Right now they have it on sale @ 50 pieces for $21.74, that's $.43 a case.

Re: Mosin nagant loads?

I use the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook for all of my cast bullet reloading. It doesn't list IMR 4895 in the data. From top to bottom of the table they have: Alliant 2400 IMR SR-4759 IMR 4227 Accurate 5744 IMR 4198 Vihtavuori N-133 Alliant Reloader 7 Do you have any of these powders? I heard, when I wa...

Re: PPU ammo any good?

I use a lot of PPU in both of my Mosins with great accuracy. I then reload the brass too. They make a very good product. My wife has shot it in her LCP with great results.

Re: Just because

I don't know that I could name one rifle as my favorite, but I love to shoot my Mosin's. Unbelievable how accurate these WW2 guns are after what they've been through.

Re: Damaged bullet casing

Silver tip, I'm hearing milsurp. Milsurp is steel cased and I'm with JYD, you don't know what the condition of the inside of those cases is. Not worth the possible damage to my gun or me/others. If they're brass I still would be skeptical about the condition. Don't know your location but here I can ...

Re: New Mosin Nagant Owner

Sweet looking Mosin man, I have a couple myself. I have the same Lee mold, mine drops at .3125. I got it down to 2 MOA @ 100yards, but it took a bit of getting used to the Mosin itself. But both my Mosins slugged at .311 so that works for me. Can't help with the Lee Loader, I don't have the loader f...

Re: Loose fitting bolt

I thought the same as the OP when I bought my first Mosin. The bolt was sloppy when opened, but locked up nice and tight. I checked the headspace and it was good. Shoots like a dream with no troubles at all.

Re: Dick's

Shopped there twice. Once they had a great deal on some Winchester 380 Auto FMJ, $19 IIRC. Second I bought two hockey pucks for bench blocks. Won't ever shop there again. When he bailed on we 2A supporters he was telling me he doesn't need my business. So as a good thoughtful considerate guy I will ...

I have shot 147 grain milsurps in mine, but the lightest I've loaded are 150 grain. I don't think I'd want to try lighter bullets myself.

Re: What powders are you using for reloading for Mosins

Where is a good place to find x54 cases? I would be interested in doing a little reloading for my M44. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I have found very few places that have 54R on hand for very long. As soon as they get it it's gone. I have resolved to buying PPU factory rounds, shooting them a...

Re: Lee Classic Loader/Lee Hand Press?

Just ran 20 7.62X54R rounds on my lee hand press. After set up it took about 15 -20 minutes using my lee powder dipper. It works really well for the mosin ammo. I have used it to reload some 30-06 Springfield too, and it worked great for them too.

I have a Lee hand press but I haven't used it for 54R yet, but thanks for asking. I'll have to get it out and run a batch of 7.62X54R rounds with it.

Re: Question re: steel case and bi-metal 54R ammo

I have burned through one spam can and I'm working on another and there has been no ill affect. Like JYD said, clean the bore, follower and bolt face right after each range session. I had a friend on another site who posted pics of a bolt face that had been pitted by the salts. It was in pretty bad ...

Re: What powders are you using for reloading for Mosins

I have two Mosins and I also have a 8 pound can of IMR 4064 and it works really well for me with them. I also have a pound of Accurate 5744 on my Mosins.
