Re: MAS 36- why so little interest?
I find them very interesting. I find the more uncommon WWII rifles fascinating. I would have one if some sorry SOB at UPS wouldn't had stolen it from the hub... I had been hunting for one for a while.

Re: Bought an Oldie
Thanks Desdem for all your help and knowledge! I'm 99% sure this is a KNIL rifle in .303 British. I'm still waiting on the Kroil to eat away all that gunk on the action screws to see under the wood line.

Re: Bought an Oldie
It also looks like it has the Japanese characters on the crest. Faint but maybe there. It is in knil shape for sure. Pics are very blurry, not sure what you are using for pics but an upgrade is needed    I'm using my iPhone, it's not good up close  Where on the crest ...

Re: Bought an Oldie
There's a crown and letter on:
The locking lug channel, barrel bands, and I think under the rear sight. I'll verify once I get home. The receiver is scrubbed except for Hembrug 1918 marking. I'll post pictures once I get home as well.

Re: Bought an Oldie
Very nice. Stock does look rough. I have one of these myself and I have ammo for it. It can be manufactured also. It is a 6.5x53.5r unless it is noted on the receiver. I can tell you if it is a knil or a homeland if you post the fotos of the markings. With the bore in that shape then it is likely a...

Re: Bought an Oldie
The bore is flawless! No rust or pitting, great lands and grooves, very clean! ![Image](http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/21/ygu2y3ys.jpg)

Re: Bought an Oldie
It had a $125 price tag, but I offered $100 plus tax (couldn't knock tax off). So this is 6.5x53r? I've heard things about some being converted to .303 British, and the hang tag and invoice said it was .303, I put an empty .303 casing in the chamber and it fit but the bolt wouldn't turn down all the...

Bought an Oldie
I just walked out of the pawn shop with a Dutch Mannlicher M1895? Hemburg 1918 rifle. I'll post pictures when I get home. The stock is rough, full of character. The metal is good but dark, no rust or pitting. It's full of grease and dust! I believe it's in 6.5x53r? I payed $109 out the door, he woul...

Re: Original Rogers & Spencer Info
JYD, I understand and respect what you mean. But it's doing no good in my possession, where as with a person who collects Civil War weaponry will actually enjoy it and have a place for it. I just think it can have a better home than with me, it's just collecting dust here. Maybe there's someone out ...

Re: Original Rogers & Spencer Info
I called my grandmother to try to dig up some solid proof that it was used in the war, and she said that none of her family served in the Civil War. She said half of her family came from Italy in 1880s and the other half from Ireland in the same time period. So that part bums me out cause she lied t...

Re: Original Rogers & Spencer Info
I have found 2 that have been sold, and these were sold several years ago. They both were complete and original and looked much better than mine.

Re: Original Rogers & Spencer Info
I might sell it. It doesn't really fit in my collection and it's just collecting dust were it's at now. With a major Civil War interest in my area (north Alabama, just miles from several Tennessee battle sites), I figured it should sell quickly. What should be my asking price? I'd be real hard pres...

Original Rogers & Spencer Info
I inherited this original Rogers and Spencer from my grandmother. All of it matches and it has early numbers (707), it's missing a screw, some springs, and the loading arm. The story with it is that is was used by a Union soldier who was a calvaryman for New York, that man was my grandmothers severa...

This Could Be The One
Make sure you look that bore over very carefully with particular attention to the crown. These barrels use rifling similar to what you would find in a US M1 Garand, I have seen many that failed the bullet test in the crown, it was just plain worn out. These rifles were used very hard. Yeah that's t...

This Could Be The One
I was browsing Armslist doing my daily check and found a Israeli Mauser. It's 7.62 marked and some slight surface rust. The numbers don't match, but this is normal for Israeli Mausers. It has Mod.98 stamped under the 7.62 stamp. It also has a blue Arabic(?) rack mark on the right side. He wants $350...
