Re: my first nagant

That's a nice Mosin, not a Nagant. In truth... it's a Mosin Nagant. http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/Mosinprimer.htm "The official designation is “3 line rifle, model 1891”. A “line” is a unit of measure equal to 1/10th of an inch." I like to call it an MN for short !! "The Mosin-Nagant r...

Re: Recent Mosin Purchase from Bud's Guns

Sorry to hear about the front sight being messed up. Sounds like Bud's will make it all good. Before I go, I have a question about your comment that the 1944 Ishevek had matching serial numbers. My understanding, and correct me if I'm wrong, was that matching numbers on Mosin Nagants mean nothing as...

Re: first mosin

Can 7.62 provide provenance for that information? No? It's another theory like many others were the Mosin is concerned. When you are dealing with people who just don't like to share information with the west about military and weapons matters it can be hard to form a proper history of a weapon. OK,...

Re: Tips for not scratching handguard

Unfortunately on one of my first mosins I bought, I marred the finish on the handguard pretty bad and every time I look at the thing I cringe because the rest of the stock is so immaculate. All well, you live and learn. Yup, did the same thing... I have a beautiful 1940 round receiver Izhevsk on wh...

Re: 1928 Izhevsk MO marked

It's an ex-Dragoon. I like these, for no rational reason. I have some MO marked rifles. That's never been a big draw for me, but it's nice to have one in your collection. Thx for confirming it's an ex-Dragoon, that's interesting to me. Is the rifle worth $200-220 to you ? Well, since it's local to ...

I was inspired to create my first meme this morning...

It happened after I filled my ammo can with the 7.62x54r surplus Chicom ammo I received yesterday.

Re: Brass stripper clips

I got some of them from fleabay a few years ago. They're pretty flimsy. I would have to agree... they don't feel as "solid" as the stainless steel ones I already have. Could be as simple as both being made from different metals. Hope to get to the range soon to see how they feed into my M...
