Leave the band's as they are. Those parts belong with that rifle, don't separate them. The stock catouche indicates the stock is from a Tula rifle. I've never personally seen a dated NEW cartouche but the more I look at it the more I'm convinced that's what I'm seeing. I'm 99.9% sure that's an <-M on top. You have a Mosin that any collector would love to have. Yeah it is an <-M, same as on the top of the receiver tang http://i1009.photobucket....
