I just payed 109 locally on sale with a rust can..tried to get them to knock more off but they said nope. I transferred it to the safety of a .50cal can. Once I burn up my first tin of ammo ope...

Re: First reload soon. Need help with specifics.
OK, Weight and of course the diameter are important. The 150 grain SP data could be used with a difference in C.O.L. because of the SST's being slightly longer. That bullet is a .312 with make the only other variable being the length of the bullet. Take that info and search around for other data and...

Bulk .308 bullets
Gents,
If anyone needs any Hornandy FMJ's try Midway USA. I just ordered 700 for about 130 bucks. Going to load them up for bolt action 30-06 and see where they take me. I was low for .308 projectiles so I got them. Still need .323 for the 8mm..boy wished they had them in FMJ's !

Re: Two Types of T53"s
Mine has a crappy stock and mismatched bolt. Everything else matches. The metal is in good shape and the rifling is very good with a good crown. Yea these rifles have been places and I would love to hear the tales they could tell. I need to post some pics!

Re: Collectibility of T53s
Well if you need to.. find a M44 stock and put it a nice shellac smelling stock. I personlly look at metal and barrel for my judgement...I like to shoot what I own and if it works I use it. I think it makes a good first timer's deer rifle. The weight and pointability of the rifle is good in my eyes ...

If anyone has a Dunhams near you and are in search for 7.62x54R they are having a sale for $99 a tin of 440. 2 cans max so I think they include a crate and a maybe even a can opener..don't quote me on the crate or can opener..don't know for sure on those 2.

Re: Collectibility of T53s
Considering these things where in caves bailed up with wire..well you be the judge. I one for taking it out and dropping it in the mud to see if it works. I think my type 53 is the funnest rifle I have..because I know I can go anywhere and have fun with it..without fear of making it look worse. Ohh ...

.22 lr and shorts are a hit and miss up here. Tough to get but not impossible if you wish to pay.
I have had better luck with .223 bulk federal for 42.00 bucks. Hell of a deal in todays climate for brass ammo.
I need more of the big boy ammo..anyone have any surplus 8mm ammo ya want to depart with???

Re: Sprigfield 30-06 case length
If it needs to be trimmed..trim it. Get all your brass per spec. and you have reduced one of the numerous variables associated to reloading. Boltaction hit it on the head..be consistent with evry step..and then you go from there.

Re: chinese 53 accuracy
I have a type 53 wich I just took to the range last week. I was shooting 5 round strings at 100 yards and putting them all on a standard prescision target. 3-4 inch groups but I was not taking my time either. This is with standard surplus ammo. I shall say mine shoots a bit low..about a inch..from p...
