I have a '43 Izhevsk that will clean an SR1 target at 100 yds. I've shot it a few times at a 600 yd match. Out of a possible 500 points it has consistently placed in the mid-to-high 200's. It's on-par with my 03-A3. The problem lies not with either rifle, but the 64 yo eyes trying to use iron sights...

Try crocus (sic) cloth, available at your local hardware store, NOT Lowe's or Home Depot, but a REAL hardware store. I use it on my 1863 Springfield rifle-musket.

A mucked-up chamber isn't always the cause of sticky bolt. I polished the mating surfaces on the bolts where they slide against each other and replaced the fp springs with new-made, modern springs. Guess what? No more sticky bolt. I'm just ayin'.....

I replaced my springs with new-made springs and the sticky-bolt syndrome disappeared and there have been no failures to fire or extract.

ma96782 has the sight adjustment bass-ackwards. Front sight is moved OPPOSITE the direction you want the group to move. The rear sight is moved in the direction you want the group to move.

At 60 yards it shouldn't be any bigger than 1.5" group, period. Sounds like your friend got a little cocky and over-confident and couldn't have shot his way out of a wet paper bag.

Thanks for the pics. That is clearly an M1907 sling and the dog collar--at least the bottom one any way--is clearly visable. I guess the only way to know for sure is to just try it and see. I'll let you know how she fares.
