Re: Why do Mosin's have sight dovetails?
Good question. I made an observation on some early 1930s m91/30 both Molot and non Molot. I noticed a gap under the sight on the front not the back. Is it possible the sight was squared at the back? If all dragoons had shorter sight bases there would be a gap on one end or the other.

Re: Enfield bolt head question
Will post some later today. Are the bolt heads interchangeable between the no 1 and the no 4? Going to try my other no 1 bolt in the new no 1 to see if it works. I'm suspicious someone slapped the wrong bolt head on it and this is the culprit.

Enfield bolt head question
I have an enfield no 1 mk lll dated 1917 that functions perfectly. I bought another no 1 mk lll and a barreled action no 1 mk ??? The bolt on the second one mentioned wont work in any of them. This bolt has a cutout on the threaded part off the bolt head but the firing pin collar has the scallop cut...

Barrel question on Enfield
I have a No 1 mk III but the barrel is in bad bad shape. I can get another barrel for it. Any tricks or is it just unscrew the old and screw in the new. By new I mean original to another No 1 at some point prior to me getting it,

Re: What would you get.. Decision made
So I did what I told myself not to do and bought both the no 5 and the mas. In short, the mas 36/51 is unissued and has all the grenade attachments. The rifle is in very nice shape. After researching fakes I determined that the areas around the receiver and sight match the real no 5s. I don't think ...

Re: What would you get
Yea I heard the no 5 will kick like a mule. I may head over at lunch and get some pics of the no 5 to post. How can I tell if it is legit ? I'm leaning toward getting both and doing the layaway, but I don't want a fake no 5.

Re: What would you get
The jungle carbine is the best value at 300. I was just at the gun shop 3 hrs ago and looked at an sks for a long time before buying it for 280.00. I would have had to pinch myself if I was looking at a jungle carbine for 300. Who really likes the French anyway. Good point, wait a second I'm of Fre...

Re: What would you get
Is the French MAS the bolt action rifle or semi auto? Do you know the things to look for on the Jungle Carbine to make sure it isn't a converted No 4? The bolt action I believe it is a 36/51? Has the grenade launcher stock pad and something at the end of the barrel that can be adjusted. I honestly ...

Re: What would you get
There is no contest. Of the three, the Enfield Jungle 5, if it is legit, is far and away the top. I have all three of what's on your list and you couldn't buy it for under $600.00. Jungle 5's are, of the three, the most faked rifles. Almost as bad as Mosin "snipers" I have no idea if the ...

Re: Post in the Molot Subforum
What we should consider is that rifles provided by Molot for Russian gun owners is far different than anything we are used to, and the laws are far different than anything we can wrap our head around. Just listen to the things that he says about the things that will get them thrown into prison. Own...

Re: Post in the Molot Subforum
Based on my limited information (I only have 2 ex snipers) after researching and seeing molot pu repros first hand ill make the following observation. First glance looks to be an ex sniper that has been refinished and equipped with a repro scope. The scope mount looks to match the bolt and receiver ...
