M1 Carbine acquisition
I just purchased my first M1 carbine (pictures to follow later). I was looking for a WWII dated rifle to add to my small collection and I think I did pretty well. It's a 1943 dated model in excellent condition. Looks to be hardly used, no import marks. It was manufactured by Standard Products. My gu...

Re: M1 Garand Help
I actually found the rifle for my Dad at a gun shop here in Iowa that I frequent 2 years ago (Pearson's Guns in Osage). He has always talked about wanting one because he served in the Army at this time and was a M1 Garand weapons instructor. He later transferred to the USAF as a jet mechanic on F-86...

M1 Garand Help
My Dad recently passed away and gave me his M1. Can somebody give me some insight into what I might have? The receiver is marked IHC (International Harvester) with a serial number of 4558226. The bolt is also marked IHC and D6523287. The rear sight is marked IHC and DRC. The barrel is marked LMR D65...

Re: 1942 Mosin
Another question. I noticed that my 1942 has brass fittings around the sling holes in the stock but my 1943 does not. Is this normal?

Re: 1942 Mosin
No, I wasn't in jail or watching the prices. My problem is that I have so many interests (firearms, archery, classic cars, aviation, photography, old outboard motor restoration, etc.) that I find myself jumping from hobby to hobby. In fact, I'm going to go look at a third Mosin at a local gun shop o...

Re: 1942 Mosin
I did have a scout scope on the 1942 but recently took it off and put the original sight back on after joining this forum. The 1943 was purchased last week from a friend. We bought these rifles about 8 years ago from an add in Shotgun News. The deal was 3 rifles with all the accessories for $69 a pi...
