Re: dirty barrel problems

Here's some side questions with the hot water and salts. How hot does the water need to be? I've microwaved my water (blame my generation) and boiled it. Not sure if the temp matters. Also what does one do with the water after running it down the bore? Not sure if it's safe to dump down the drain or...

Re: My Savage 24 S-E

Nice rifle. Also good combo. I like the idea of .22lr and 20 gauge more so than 410. I'm looking for a combo gun, but Savage's new offering of the Model 42 with its polymer stock and plastic sights isn't very appealing. I'm going to keep looking for used 24s or wait for the Chiappa Double Badger. I'...

Re: Polish trainers

Nice rifle. Is it a single shot or does it have an internal magazine similar to the Mosin Nagant?

Good to see another left handed shooter.

Re: Hoppes Bore Snake

I have a Boresnake for my .30cal and .22cal rifles and a .40cal for my handgun. They seem to work good, especially in the field. I prefer to carry my .22cal boresnake when I'm in the field with the National Guard, easier than assembling junk cleaning rods they issue with our M-4s. I use the boresnak...

Re: 50's Romanian Trainer?

Is this similar to the Romanian M69 .22 Trainer Rifles? I've seen Royal Tiger selling them for about $120 with free shipping. After the transfer fee, $140 isn't bad for a .22 rifle. However the magazines seem nearly impossible to find. What would be a modern equivalent to these Romanian Trainer Rifl...

Re: Elby sight tool

Want to say that I got my Elby Gunsmith Model Sight Tool in today. It took him a while to ship due to a backlog, but he kept me informed and shipped in the time frame. Looks great and works even better. Took longer to find the hex wrench than to actually push the front sight off my rifle. I was conc...

Re: Brass stacker butt stock cover

Here's one idea if you're looking for a simple and inexpensive, but quality product. Strikehard Gear's Mosin Nagant Buttstock Pouch.

Strikehard Gear - MN Pouch

I have one in OD Green. Very durable. Holds two stripper clips very easily. It is ambidextrous. I'll post pics later of mine.

Re: Bayonet Scabbards

They can make a nice display! Just make sure you don't run out of "ammo" and you won't have to make any charges(sudden movements)! :big shock:  SA stamped 91-30 bayo 017-2.JPG How do you like this scabbard? Does it seem to hold up well? Thanks for the responses. I'm not too worried a...

What does everyone do with your Mosin Nagant Bayonets? Has anyone considered or used either of these two scabbards? Re: Mosins on TV

That's what I figured with the ballistics of the 7.62x54r round. Even if it doesn't kill you or cause you to bleed out, it will still cause some serious long term damage. However most gun stuff goes out of the window along with physics with Hollywood. But Lost is special since the Island is special,...

Re: Mosins on TV

I've been watching Lost with my girlfriend (she's a big fan) and in Season 3, one of the Others has a Mosin Nagant 91/30. It's neat seeing the characters carry it. However when the Other Mikail shoots Sayid in the arm, Sayid acts like it's nothing. I feel a 7.62x54r in the arm would hurt alot and th...

Re: Elby sight tool

Has anyone used their Elby sight tool to remove the front sight hood completely?

I have a rifle that I'm trying to upgrade to Smith Sights and the front sight won't budge with the brass punches.
