Re: Garage sale find - Mossberg 500 parts

I hate to admit this, but I just learned how to replace spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor button about a month ago.

I'm pretty good at carpentry though - even built a small barn a few years ago!

Re: Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

I am a fan of Mogunner's second option. A full stock with pistol grip, either with or without collapsible stock. Agreed. My wife's 870 is rigged up with a pistol grip with a collapsible stock. She likes it. So far I like the look and feel and handling of the Hogue pistol grip, though I haven't shot...

Re: Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

I had #4 high base duck and pheasant loads in it. That's just plain cruel... but also funny as hell!! I was out yesterday with my buddy and his brother, the latter was breaking in his new Binelli 12 gauge. He was shooting your basic 2 3/4" #8 field loads and getting pretty cocky. He went to an...

Re: Garage sale find - Mossberg 500 parts

Now you need a nice small RV as a tour bus for the band :) Well, I don't yet have a band bus. Maybe that's my next big purchase! Years ago I converted the top floor of my band to a band practice room. I live out in the country, so we can play as late as we want. My wife is very cool about my band h...

Re: Garage sale find - Mossberg 500 parts

:beek: Are we getting the band back together? :beek: Yes, at a matter of fact we are. Go ahead and quit your full-time job. We're gonna all pack into JYD's new motorhome and hit the road. We'll have to sober him up first so he can drive because the rest of us have all lost our licenses and have war...

Re: Garage sale find - Mossberg 500 parts

Great score from craigslist! Congratulations. I need to use craigslist more often. I may even list my old Honda Accord on craigslist next month. (Currently my visiting in-laws are using it.) I'll definitely get a used 500. Never owned one before - just 870s, but I think I'd like one. I play drums in...

Garage sale find - Mossberg 500 parts

I saw an ad on Craigslist for some Mossberg 500 parts. I stopped by and found a slightly rusted 12 gauge ported, cantilevered, rifled slug barrel along with a brand new wooden stock and forearm and scope rings. He was asking $30 for everything. I brought it home and the barrel cleaned up nicely. Thi...

Re: Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

I ended up getting the Hogue pistol grip. It looks good, feels good and I think I'm going to like shooting it. I'll let you know at the end of this month when I shoot it. THanks everyone.

In my eyes, this is one of the best looking Mosins I've seen in a long time. I'm a sucker for blonde stocks. That thing is freaking flawless. Looks like in never left the factory.

Re: Vz2008 with a little package twist, updated!

I bought a VZ 2008 a little over a year ago. You got a better deal though. I think I paid $450 or so. I actually prefer the folding stock. The first time I fired it I braced for a painful kick. Instead; I found the recoil a lot lighter than my heavier OPAP (AK variant). Either way, it's a nice rifle...

Re: Finally getting a M1 Garand.

I have 5 Garands. Not sure why I need 5, but they just followed me home I guess. They're great rifles. Surprisingly, my wife was the one bugging me to buy more after my first one. She LOVES the beat up used stocks as opposed to the nice new one on my first Garand. Most collectors would agree with he...

Re: Century Arms WASR AK rifles issued to Ugandan guards in

Ugandan soldiers guarded one of the FOBs I worked on in Iraq back in 2008. They were some of the nicest guys you ever want to meet, hard workers and very reliable. They would do anything you asked, and most of the time, you didn't even have to ask. These dudes would stand out in the hot weather all ...

Re: Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

Few people other than me shoot these pistol grip jobs for fun, I load it with low brass reloads and "walk" a cardboard box up and down my private range with it. It's the sort of tool that if you really need to use it, you will be so full of rage/fear/loathing at the time that it will be l...

That's good to hear. I can't see paying $300 bucks to essentially fix something that ain't broken. Heck, if I can do the same thing with a $25 pistol grip, I figure I'm way ahead, even if I later decide I don't like it. :D

Re: Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

I was just following up on that bullpup conversion, and I don't like it. First of all it is 300 bucks, plus the price of the shotgun. Then cleaning it is a pain. I would just get the ATI collapsible pistol grip if I wanted to mod a shotgun. When I first saw the $300 conversion kit, that's pretty mu...

Re: Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

Thanks for all the feedback. I just ordered the grip and will let you know how it turns out. Worst cast, it turns out to be a $25 toy. I'm cautiously optimistic that I'm going to be a "prodigy" in shooting this baby. I've got super long "monkey arms" and am pretty good with a han...

Pistol grip on shotgun? Need your opinion.

I'm thinking about getting a Hogue Tamer pistol grip for one of my Remington 870 shotguns. I have several HD guns and thought it would be nice to have something really compact. Looks like it would be fun to shoot as well. I also like the dual sling attachment options on this pistol grip. What do you...

Re: She Came in!

Congratulations on your WASR. I've been hearing very good feedback on the new WASRs. I ordered an OPAP back around January and love it. This rifle is basically a Serbian AK - very sweet rifle, indeed. It is my go-to gun. Like yours, mine arrived with rough, bare wood. I loved the way it looked right...

Re: HRA Range Trip and stock ?

The Garand is beautiful, but the green grass is even more stunning. Would you believe I'm staring out the window at 12" of packed frozen slush that covers my property? I'm going to show this picture to my wife. Maybe I can talk her into moving. You got room for a couple Conservative, Rural, Yan...
