Re: Bulgarian spam can issue?
JYD’s previous advice of taking a chamber cast is where I would start. Plus, if it is indeed a piece of stuck case, usually it will be removed by the chamber casting. Cerrosafe is the product you would use, it’s fairly inexpensive and is reusable.

Re: Mosin Nagant bolt won’t close
Everything in the pictures you attached looked normal to me. If you find that the headspace is short, then you can change out the bolt head, and hope that the one you choose has more headspace than the previous one.

Re: Mosin Nagant bolt won’t close
Double check that the chamber is clean and clear of any grease or debris. If it’s not the chamber, I would suspect tight headspace. This can be verified with a set of headspace gauges.

Re: Finnish M91 last round issue while shooting
Ah, gotcha. You might have success with a new magazine spring/floor plate, it’s a cheap enough fix. Also check your action screws for tightness, specifically the front screw. And if there is any aftermarket pillar or shimming job done to the action, I suggest removing it. The action screws need to b...

Re: Finnish M91 last round issue while shooting
What’s the chambering issue exactly? Bolt riding over last round? Tip if round jamming into chamber face? Round stuck in magazine?

Re: New Owner of Inherited Russian Mosin
This is the only photo that has me possibly leaning towards some type of plated finish. You can see an area by the action screw hole where the “finish” looks to have been chipped away. And if you look at the handguard endcaps, there looks to be remnants of a shiny finish where it meets the wood. Thi...

Re: New Owner of Inherited Russian Mosin
Did the Russians ever nickel plate rifles for parade use? To me, it does have a nickel plated look to it, but I am far from an expert on the topic.

Re: Moral Dilemma
Thanks for the responses guys. Unfortunately I have already tried 2 other complete bolts, and neither one or a compilation of parts of all 3 bolts would work with my rifle. It’s an older 69/71 model and from what I have read, parts interchangeability was slim. JYD- you are correct, thousands of them...

Bayonet on or off at the range?
Reason I ask is because Russian M91/30s were sighted in with bayonets attached. Most 91/30s I’ve shot without the bayonet patterned high and a fair bit to the right. Judging by your adjustment, you saw something similar with your rifle.

Re: Solution needed for weird barrel band spring break
I think with a 91/30, as long as you HAVE rifling, you’ll be ok. Never seen one with perfectly crisp rifling, all I’ve seen have been varying degrees of rounded with some being dang near smooth. But every one of them could hit paper at 100 yards. In fact, one of my best shooting mosins happens to be...

Re: Solution needed for weird barrel band spring break
It broke where the 2 pieces were welded together when manufactured. These stamped variants were made from a bent piece of spring steel with a piece of pin stock welded to one side to fit into the stock. So IMO, not a bubba fix, but likely a poor weld from a long time ago. If you intend to fix it you...

Re: Reloading 101?
I wouldn’t be concerned with shoulder bump, just install the die per the maker’s directions. Some die makers call for the FL die to just touch the shell holder while some call for a slight amount of cam-over (1/8-1/4 turn past touching).

Re: Reloading 101?
During the shortage, my “one powder for everything” has been Hodgdon Varget. I use it for everything, from .223 Rem up to 30-06. Was lucky enough to find an 8lb jug early in the pandemic for a reasonable price. I highly recommend it if you can find it. As for primers, I’ve never had issues with CCI-...

WTB: 32-20/32WCF brass
Hey folks Dad and I just picked up a pair of 32-20 S&W 1905’s and I need to get some ammo loaded up. I have all the components in hand except for brass, which seems really hard to find at the moment. I’m looking to acquire 50 pieces but will take however many are offered. Will pay up to $1/piece...

That stock has some strong Eastern European vibes, really resembles the stocks on “unissued” Polish M44s.

Re: Need Help to Identify
Our sponsor at the top of the web page, Liberty Tree Collectors, has 2 available for $145 apiece. In my opinion that’s about what you should expect to pay for an M91 handguard. Hope this helps.

Re: I have watched them until I couldn't stand it anymore
I dont think you can go wrong with one honestly, for the price they come at. I picked up one last year and it’s probably the turdiest one I’ve see in person but it’s still a load of fun at the range. Hardly has any rifling left and still puts out better groups than most of my modern pistols.
