Re: Meeting a Veteran

Seems to be a fair few Russian veterans here in Aus, Poles too. My Great-Grandfather fought with Armia Poznan at Kutno during the outbreak of war, according to him he was a machine-gunner. Said that he stood his ground after all of his friends had either fallen or ran off, caught a few rounds in the...

Re: MAS 36, 1939 Non-refurb.

Yes, Australian troops were able to return home with war trophies. There have been various verified examples, mostly in the war memorial collection today, of M44's, T53's, SKS' and AK-47s/Type 56. I don't recall any MAS rifles. I had considered this, although it certainly does not have the look I'd ...

MAS 36, 1939 Non-refurb.

Hey everybody, won this rifle during the Australian arms auction in Melbourne today. Never seen one here before, and I'm certainly no expert on French firearms. Just want to confirm that it is what I believe it is. Unfortunately I only have the image from the catalog, I did inspect it today but was ...

Re: Hungarian re-arsenaled matching M44, 1946 Izhevsk.

Beautiful. I haven't seen a Hungarian re-arsenaled before - especially with these mixed parts. Re-arsenaled where? Couldn't this just be a Russian carbine placed in a Hungarian stock with some 02 bolt parts? A '46 was likely not refurbished at least I don't see any refurbishment stamps. There is a ...

Hungarian re-arsenaled matching M44, 1946 Izhevsk.

Hey everybody, recently picked this up, Hungarian re-arsenaled 46' Izhevsk. All metal parts are Izhevsk except for the bolt. Stock, bolt and nose-cap are 02 marked. Came in from Germany, has West German commercial proofs. http://s2.postimg.org/jmdda4j55/P9282984.jpg http://s2.postimg.org/jnnb3jkyx/P...

Re: Previously unknown Finnish M38 variant?

Unfortunately this rifle was just a Bubba guys, definitely from Finland though. Barrel shank was scrubbed and restamped, stock belonged to an M44 of an origin that I'm uncertain of, sanded and refinished. No idea on the handguard. Saddest part is that the barrel and receiver once made up a 1940 Izhe...

Previously unknown Finnish M38 variant?

Hey everybody, today I purchased this rifle. I've seen nothing like it (Except for another the other big site, which was said to be in Finland itself, but it was absolutely identical) and it doesn't seem to be identifiable by any source. It's an M38 with a very interesting handguard, bare barrel asi...

The carving reads 'Krasnoj Armii slava', which translates to 'Glory to the red army'.

Vietnam bring-back M44 (Australia)

Hey everybody, finally got my hands on my recently purchased 1945 Izhevsk, supposedly a Vietnam bring-back. Just going by the appearance, I don't doubt it. Although not evident in the pics, half of the bolt face has been completely corroded, along with the underside of the barrel, unfortunately. But...

Re: The elusive Australian-Vietnam bring-back, finally found

How is the bore?? Do YOU think it can be fired?? Any pitting under the wood?? I think you should pick up the other two if for no other reason that you appreciate what they are.. Unfortunately the rifle is not yet in my personal possession, but I don't think it would be safe to fire. According to th...

Re: The elusive Australian-Vietnam bring-back, finally found

The test marks were not required on bringback weapons? It's old enough that it could be Korean war also. Only imported firearms were required to have a large "F' engraved on the receiver where the safety will overlap. Both my older import K98 and recent T53 that I sold have this, newer imports...

Re: The elusive Australian-Vietnam bring-back, finally found

Usually I wouldn't be excited over hearing that my latest purchase looks to be in terrible condition, but this is a different story :P It doesn't have the safety test marks that have been in effect since the 50/60s either so I guess that's a plus.

The elusive Australian-Vietnam bring-back, finally found one

Hey everybody, a few days ago I came across an advertisement on an Australian site selling a wartime M44 stock in extremely worn non-refurbished condition along with a very rusty magazine. Out of curiosity I inquired about the whereabouts of the rest of the rifle. The seller replied that he has thre...

Genuine M38 sling?

Hey everybody, I'm looking at this sling for my non-refurb 1940 M38, what are your thoughts on it being a genuine pre-war/wartime M38 sling? http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjQwWDQzNg==/z/RUgAAOxydlFSzSlq/$_3.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjE3WDQzMQ==/z/SDkAAOxyVaBSzSls/$_14.JPG http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/...

Re: WW2 German captured 1938 Izhevsk 91/30

Amazing rifle and an even more amazing story to go with it. I only wish my Great-Grandfather had been able to retain his issued rifle, what I would give to hold it. He was Polish, fought at Kutno in 1939 right at the start of it, was shot three times in the left leg and twice in the groin. He spent ...

Re: Australian Mosin collection.

Very very nice collection and I'm surprised that you are allowed to own them in Australia...but good for you.. :) Our laws are bad, but not 'that' bad :P Bolt-actions are actually fairly easy to acquire and store. Handguns are far tighter but still obtainable, everything else, such as semi-autos, i...

Hey everybody, recently took some HD pics of a few of my most interesting Mosins and posted up on another forum, thought you guys might appreciate a look too :) .
