1941 Izhevsk Finnish capture, non-refurb
Howdy folks, today I am proud to present to you this rifle that I have recently purchased, a non-refurbed 91/30 manufactured at Izhevsk in (Early, i assume) 1941, an "SA" marked relic of the continuation war between the USSR and Finland. Everything matches, except for the bolt, but I reall...

Re: Help me identify this M91?
Gee, seems like I was lucky to come across it then Would this upgrade have been performed by the arsenal back in the day, prior to WW1?
Edit: I would assume that the swivel is original.

Help me identify this M91?
Hi folks, could anybody help me identify this rifle I'm considering to purchase? As you can see, it's an Izhevsk M91, dated 1914. What really stumped me was the existence of the steel cross-bolt along with the lack of sling holes. No model seems to have had both of these features at one time on my k...

Re: My Russian/Finnish M91
Turns out the receiver was previously attached to a New England Westinghouse rifle! I only recently identified the marking on the tang, I initially dismissed it as it wasn't a very clear stamp. I can understand now why the Imperial stamp remains on the shank but not the receiver, they weren't always...

Re: M44 - do you guys keep the bayonet on?
Mine always has the bayonet attached, it's a part of the rifle, just like the magazine and the buttplate, I'll never remove it for anything. If you're going to buy an M44 and take the bayo off, why not just buy an M38?

Re: My Russian/Finnish M91
It is not easy to find I know that as I have only one that I know of! I won't even hazard a guess about how it got on there either because there are just so many ways it could have. Nice one to have and a great rifle to begin with! Bill :D I guess I was quite lucky to find the old girl, she was sit...

Re: My Tula 91/30
Actually, I think a hex Tula is a long more rare and collectable than my 1942 round receiver Izhevsk. I never get tired of checking out old Mosins in any condition. They're all classy. I especially like having the bayonets with the rifles. A while back one of my rifles arrived without a bayonet. I ...

Dam old DUMMY I am! That is the Serbian crown. Sorry old age overcomes me at times, Most times I am afraid! Bill Oh wow, that's quite exciting! :D How would it have ended up as far away as Finland? Maybe it was sent to Serbia in 1914, captured by the Austrians/Germans and given to FInland la...

Re: Oldest T53 With or Without "Shi" Mark.
Anybody ever heard of a 1952 dated T53? There's one for sale on a local gun site for $320 AUD, are they similar rarity to that of a 1943 M44?

Re: My Tula 91/30
I have some nice Australian No1 MKIII* Enfields including a .22 trainer, excellent rifles. A BSA No1 MKII* Lithgow refurbished 1918 and Lithgow No1MkIII* 1942 have now landed in my collection, I'm very glad with how my modest collection has grown. Now consists of A Finned' M91, Soviet 91/30, 1939 K...

Re: My Russian/Finnish M91
Sorry to revive a long dead thread folks, but could anybody tell me what that little crown actually stands for? I've not seen a stamp like that on any other Mosin and it's really bugging me

What is that mark in the left hand corner of the receiver in the 1st pic of my gallery? Could that be any sort of stamp?

Re: Russian capture K98?
Those are some great looking K98's by the way JYD, thanks for the info. I'm very happy with the old girl, I just wish I knew the story. Didn't the Soviets stamp the serial this way, and doesn't the blued butt-plate suggest Russian capture? Perhaps the stock is from an RC that has had the SHellac str...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6JWlsWY73g in the white. I must say JYD, that is one exceptional Romanian M44, I'm sure mine was in a similar condition before the previous owner got his hands on it :/ I was under the impression that all Romanian cleaning rods had this appearance? http://pictures.gu...

Re: Cleaning rod for Romanian M44?
They are essentially exactly the same as the Russian M44's, I was going to get one from LTC anyway, but I wanted to try seeing if I could find a Romanian stamped example. No big deal if I can't, it'd just be nice to have an all-Romanian rifle, I was lucky enough to find a Romanian folding bayonet fo...

Russian capture K98?
Hi folks, what are your thoughts on this K98 I have recently purchased? I need some help identifying it. It's a 1939, Mauser Obendorf manufacture, in a non-period stock (With a non-matching number on the butt) along with peened swastikas. Everything is mis-matching, the bolt is apparently force matc...
