Re: What is a new, unissued Polish M44 worth these days?

I would really like to have an unissued Polish M44 but my common sense tells me that anything over $500.00 is just too much although I bet even at $600.00, it's a good long term investment.

Re: What is a new, unissued Polish M44 worth these days?

I am going to take some of your advice and hold off. I feel that $600.00 is just too overpriced for the market right now, although I know long term even that will seem like a good deal in a few years. I have quite a few M44s but my Hungarian needs a new stock and I am still looking for a Romanian an...

What is a new, unissued Polish M44 worth these days?

Found one, but the owner wants $600.00 It has a few surface scratches but is basically a brand new looking rifle. I have seen them selling for $400.00 to $500.00. I want it, but $600.00 seems ridiculous. What would you pay or what did you recently pay for a brand new Polish M44?

Re: Bubba has no respect...

Wow, looking at that made me queasy. Just like cars, some guys just HAVE to tinker and unfortunately, because of the low cost, Mosins are almost always the victim. In a way, I admire his wanting to improve his gun but as a Mosin lover, it is just sad to see a nice Mosin destroyed.

Re: My first Mosin is a winner.

Beautiful rifle and nice pictures. Must be nice to just drive 20 minutes of town and have endless desert to shoot in. No worries about whether or not you can shoot steel ammo, nobody hassling you, no worries about black helicopters of CADOJ descending on you as you exericise your 2A rights. For me t...

Re: What the hell is this?

While the Molot billboard is obnoxious, I must say that all of the Molot Mosins I have bought have been in pretty good shape. That's the price we pay for getting Mosins from Russia instead of the Ukraine these days. Not that big a deal.

Re: Check out the new M44s I picked up

I've seen some other pictures of Tulas from this batch from J&G, some very, very nice rifles. Can't wait to shoot these two.

Re: What's Your Best Purchase Of 2013?

There are some amazingly cool rifles in this thread, mine pales in comparison. This rifle was my best purchase of 2013 simply because it is my first Finn, an M39 1968 No Make. It has a few plugs and patches but I really, really love it and I think it is beautiful. I am realizing now I wish I would h...

Re: Check out the new M44s I picked up

Yes. My collector side was repulsed when I saw it, but I also saw basically a brand new Hungarian M44 that looked close to unissued as far as the metal so I was torn. I knew if I could ever hunt down a nice Hungarian stock and barrel bands, I would have a decent Hungarian M44 for my collection. In t...

Re: Check out the new M44s I picked up

OK, here's the problem. This doesn't look like a Hungarian Stock. I think it is Russian M-44 stock. So, someone, for some reason, put a Hungarian action in a Russian M-44 Stock. As to the 5 w's - who knows? When I first saw it I said M91/59 stock - could be either one but I would guess it is Russia...

Re: Check out the new M44s I picked up

Thanks for the education on the markings everyone. I own a Hungarian M44 but mine has a bubba'd stock that someone refinished so I never noticed that "02", although now that you mention it, the receiver shows "02" Yes, I am very happy with this pair, and I was especially happy to...

I am totally addicted to M44s, I only have one 91/30 left, all of the rest are M44s. Still need a Polish and a Romanian.

Re: Check out the new M44s I picked up

1945 Izhevsk - Little bit of rust on the trigger guard, or that could be dried cosmo? I will find out when I clean it. http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w489/capybara84/DSCN1516_zps22cffa4a.jpg 1945 Izhevsk - Little bit of a rusted front barrel band. Check out the new M44s I picked up

Here are some quick snaps of the two new M44s I picked up from J&G last week. The top one is a 1944 Tula, the bottom, a 1945 Izhevsk. First image is with flash to show wood grain, the rest, I turned flash off, too much glare and I am just using my point and shoot camera, no way to bounce the fla...

Selling a friend his first 91/30 tomorrow. Just sent him this as prerequisite watching. Mosins changed the world and this video is very informative and interesting from the Motherland's POV. Thanks for posting it!
