Very nice rifle, I have been looking at one myself, but still trying to find a few Mosins. Is that blue on the bolt or is it some kind of paint? I am sorry for my stupid question but I know nothing about mausers. I am guessing that it was reblued before being stored? Help a newbie out please.

Well guys I finally received my C&R after 3 months wait I am getting ready to get a long awaited M44 and hopefully a couple more from my list. Hopefully this is a good thing for me, but a bad thing for the bank accounts

Hey I don't mind the cleaning part or disassembly, that is part of what I enjoy doing. It's finding them and getting from trust worthy places that I don't know yet. I am going to go ahead and mail it tomorrow and see what happens. Maybe it will be back for black friday sales.

With my budget I got to find under $300 whenever possible, and I only know one place with M39's and they are much more? After the new M1 Garand gets here, I will have to recover from spending that much on one rifle.....

Well, this forum is a bad influence, just send in my order for my first M1 Springfield service grade. Had all the paperwork ready, and thought it was time.
That first one you got is awesome, I guess you were very happy. I just hope I get a nice clean one.

Thanks again for the help. I really like the old gun, and its been with me a long time. Somebody really used it as the blue is worn, but stock is in pretty good shape. It shoots great also, it is a keeper for sure. I paid $20 for it a little over 25 years ago, might be worth more than that now?
