Update on my Original Remington
Well y'all she lives! My original Remington is ready to shoot once again. The nipples turned out to be usable and no new parts where needed to get it to index properly. My dad figured out that the spring tension screw was stuck, and after freeing it and adjustment she runs like a Swiss watch. I want...

Re: JYD This Is Because Of You !!
I love fried Spam, the Mrs. - not so much. Anybody a fan of Armour's "Treet"? Its a passable substitute but pales in comparison to the real deal. The best off brand I've tried, and with Spam being $4 a can I've tried many, is Aldi's Brookdale Luncheon Meet. It taste's exactly like Spam. Th...

Re: CVA Plainsmen Flintlock
I was bidding on a CVA Plainsmen on Gunbroker. I wasn't willing to go above $250 because I didn't think that the CVA was a better rifle than a similar Traditions that I know I can get for $250 or there about. Am I right or do I need to pony up for the CVA?

Re: CVA Plainsmen Flintlock
Flintlocks are the ultimate in cool, aka :vcool: . But there are flintlocks and there are FLINTLOCKS. Suppose you have to figure out what you want to use it for and how much you want to spend. I'm not a hunter so I have no need for .50 cal plus rifles. Mine are all Pedersoli .45's. I might be talke...

Re: CVA Plainsmen Flintlock
Thanks everybody. I'm looking to get a flintlock sometime soon and want opinions on what's good and what's crap. Any advice given is greatly appreciated. I wish there was a good muzzle-loading store in Western NC.

CVA Plainsmen Flintlock
Are the CVA flintlocks any count? I've read that the Traditions flints are surprisingly decent but cannot find much info on the CVA. Thanks!

They were moved to the top on the page. Look for "Mosin Information , Videos, and "How to's" (Sub-Forum)".

I'd take it out the stock ASAP and look at it under a magnifying glass. It sure looks like a crack.

A gentleman on the Remington forum called Kirst and they said that the brass framed guns could use the conversion cylinder as long as the powder charge is kept under 17 grains. FWIW

Track of the Wolf Rocks!
After going to all of my local gun stores to find a powder measure I finally gave up and ordered one from Track of the Wolf. That was Thursday and I received the parcel today
! Talk about fast, from MN to NC in two days. I Highly recommend The Track of the Wolf!

Thanks all. I wasn't planing on shooting the old girl but either putting it in a nice display case or using it to acquire a safe, shootable flintlock.

Re: Project pistol I just picked up
I found it. Forefathers casting over on the castboolit forum sells 500 balls for $41 shipped. Best deal I've found on lead balls. Glad you got it figured out, a lot of people suggest pinching the caps to prevent them jamming the works. On my Pietta the Remington #10 caps fit like a glove.
