Re: Lyman Trade Rifle .50 Cal
Thanks All! I took my Remington New Army to the range and the dudes shooting poly pistols just shake their heads. Of course they spend 30mins and then have to leave due to ammo costs, while I make smoke for a couple hours
. polymerase2 I will try and get that range report to you ASAP.

Love the history and mystery that your Colt brings to the (coffee)table! I need to find a Colt to go with my Remington, but Original Colt prices are outta my league.

Re: Lyman Trade Rifle .50 Cal
How's the trigger on your Trade rifle? I'm debating ordering the Trade rifle or the Great Plains Kit and I'm wondering if the set trigger on the GPR is worth the extra work. Thanks!

Re: Lyman Trade Rifle .50 Cal
Thanks. I like the looks and price of the trade rifle. I have read that the Lyman flintlocks, along with the Pedersoli's, are considered the best "production" flintlocks. I think I'll place that order for one from Dixie Gun Works. ![smile :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

Re: Lyman Trade Rifle .50 Cal
How does it shoot round balls? I am looking at getting one but am concerned that the 1 in 48 twist is too fast for lead balls. Thanks!

A "B" with a crown. It won't go to full cock just half. The trigger will fall at about 1lb (!) and the bore is fairly clean.

I have been extremely blessed with finding the deals I have lately. I think it will look great above the fire place with my CVA Kentucky rifle :) Here are the better pictures I promised. http://imageshack.us/scaled/medium/96/flintsunny2.jpg http://imageshack.us/scaled/medium/199/flintsunny1.jpg

I was going between "sex trophies" and "crotch fruit". I was in one of those moods... ![smile :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

Re: FN49, should I buy?
My Dad a pristine FN49 in 8mm Mauser back in the early 90's. Beautiful gun. He sold it to buy a video camera to record his sex trophies (AKA his kids). ThIs "trophy" would of preferred he kept the rifle!

It's casting time!
Now that I'm going hog wild with black powder weapons, I decided to splurge on a Lee Production Pot IV. I ordered 25lbs of soft lead off of ebay to get started as all I had were wheel weights, and I've been told that they are to hard for cap and ball revolvers. I also ordered a Lee dual .454 round b...
