The upside is the potential for added history to the common Ukranian depot refurbs...
If they are pressed into service could make for interesting future imports.

Like some of you I also smelt and cast my own. Lead is ridiculously recyclable and a little goes a long way. Looking like a good investment to be on early

Love the patina on that one! Did the PL markings appear intermittently on the 1941 Sakos? I have seen both low serial number and higher (like this one) serial numbers that have the marking.

Re: Mixed Markings
It can get kinda cool when you have bolt parts (or any other part) that you can tell difference in age. You can find parts with the old Tula hammer logo or the old Izhevsk bow and arrow logo.

Re: Mosins at Cabelas
Fort Worth Cabelas had lots of Molot round receiver refurbs but most were in what I would call rough shape for a refurb - went home without any since they reminded me of the $99 Aim Shooter grade examples we see sometimes.

Doesn't the rear sight being pinned mean it went through at least some refurbishment program?

Re: Excellent movie suggestion: The Way Back
Watched it on Netflix - great movie. Only thing was I spent the better part of the movie working through my Mosinitis infected brain trying to figure out why I recognized Mr. Smith. Once I got past rooting for him in this movie I realized that I had spent all of Enemy at the Gates rooting against hi...

Re: Wise to "invest" in a few more?
Buckeye check the reverse of those 1884 and 1885 Morgan dollars. If there is a "CC" mark underneath the tail feathers on either one that means they are counterfeit and should be sent to me for proper disposal! :devil2: :devil2: Seriously though, even if that condition if they are from the ...

Racer
I posted this rifle a few months ago - it was determined that it could not have been SCW because the rear sight had been pinned. I still do not know the history of that rifle but it sure is cool; gives my SWMBO the creeps......

Re: 2 1943 Izhevsk M91/30 "shooters" from AIM
If and when AIM does these again I want to order some! Every one I have seen on here looks better than the non-shooter grade refurbs to my eyes. These have character!!

Re: J&G Hexes
I tried to tell my SWMBO about this a couple years back when I first got bitten by the addiction - that I should buy now and reap the benefits later. Sadly I encountered resistance to this plan and currently own only 5 of these great rifles but I have good variety in that collection. I guess my glor...

Re: bullet size conversion question
Wow Finn I just learned something new about the .30-06!
To the OP - If I remember right most of your standard .30 caliber bullets will measure at .308 - this would include .308, .30-06, .30 Carbine etc. The 7.62 is a little more variable depending on when and who made it.

Re: I'm at a loss for words on this "Mosin test"
Interesting video - although sad to see that rifle put through that by these guys. By the time he fired the last two loads I was firmly on the rifle's side, and when the action held with the last load I think I actually cheered out loud that it was able to stand up and fight. To the AR guys I am alw...

Re: Range report
Doesn't have anything to do with the range - but I encountered a possible Mosin newbie at work yesterday and had to quickly act to educate him. Conversation I walked up on was one of Bubba's - you know lets get this cheap rifle and chop it up and try to make a .308 out of it BS story. :angry4: :angr...
