I need to borrow some headspace gauges.

I am working on a method that will allow me to produce rimless headspace gauges such as .308 Winchester and 8mm Mauser. Before I can do this I need some dimensions to work from. Does anyone have any common rimlesss caliber gauges I could borrow for a day or two? I just need to take some measurements...

Re: Pietta 1861 Colt Navy

I have a couple of Piettas that will likely never be shot, by me at least. An 1858 Remington .44 and an 1851 Navy brass framed .44. Beautiful guns!

Re: Colt Trooper

It earned every scuff, scratch or ding. That holster wear shows that it went to work and then came back home. It's the guns personality. Leave it like you got it.

Re: New Century AK47

I have a first generation C39 that came with plastic. I replaced the front end with Bulgarian wood, and the buttstock with a NOS Century that I bought online. The rifle fits me like a glove now, looks much better, and is a fantastic shooter.

Re: Tested a new .45acp load today.

Well, it's no wonder they pounded the crap out of me. Hodgdon recommends a maximum load of 4.8 grains of TiteGroup. My 5.5 grain loads are effectively +p+. The brass and primers look great, no signs of overpressure. A thorough examination of the pistol shows nothing out of the ordinary. I won't feed...

Tested a new .45acp load today.

I'm planning to deer hunt with my 1911 this fall so I worked up a load specifically for that purpose. A 230 grain XTP hollow point over 5.5 grains of TiteGroup. 30 rounds through my 5" 1911a1 left my whole arm sore!! The primers and brass looked good and the rounds are very accurate out to 25 y...

Re: Bugging out?

I've put back 20k rounds in assorted calibers, and enough materials to make up another 5-6k pistol rounds in various flavors. I'm staying put and shooting anyone that gets in range. My PSL and I are good out to 500 yards. As for food and water...I'm not saying.

Re: Ammo back in USA

I've got a heavy duty cordless drill bag with a good padded shoulder strap. In it are 10 loaded 30rd AK mags, plus the one in the rifle for a total of 330 rounds ready to go. There's also a German mil-surp cleaning kit with a weighted chain and .30 caliber brushes in there. It works on the AK as wel...

Re: Brand new glass!

Took the rifle out to the range today. With a mix of Bulgarian and Albanian light ball we dialed her in at 100 yards throwing a group of just over an inch. Then we went to the 300 yard range and was ringing the 8" gong. I'm pleased...very pleased!! I never even got around to trying the Czech si...

Brand new glass!

My buddy, who's actually more like family, surprised me with the most awesome gift...a brand new Nikon Prostaff 5 scope. It's a 4.5-18x40, red and green illuminated reticle, BDC. I have it on my PSL with a low profile Kalinka mount so I don't have to deal with the off center scope bullshit. Finally ...

Going to be closed for a while.

A hospital stay is in my immediate future. And this is one that I may not escape without leaving a pound of flesh on the alter for the demon Diabetes. They warned me, but I didn't listen. I'm for damn sure listening now!! Prayers are welcome.
