After a Google search, one website has a guy using K-Y personal lubricant for safely removing barrel bands. It's water-based instead of petroleum, so I don't see any problems trying it.

I have shot several 800 round cases of Czech silvertip and no "casing got fused in the throat" on in the chamber for that matter. (The cartridge case does not touch the throat so could not fuse there.) Also the lacquer is a very thin layer. Hmmm...I think chamber would be the correct term...

Just don't get the Czech surplus ammo with the thick lacquer on the casing.

My shooting buddy uses it in his NDM-86 and he told me to try it the first time I took my Mosin shooting. 3 rounds through a hot barrel and the casing got fused in the throat--not fun.

The rifling looks pretty good. Well done--I think it will do you fine!

I have read speculative posts stating soldiers using urine as a cleaner--seems reasonable, but I'm not sure as to the veracity of those state...
