Range day with 1909 and 1891 Mauser

I picked up my 1909 Mauser last week-end and today I finally got to the range with it and my 1891 to shoot them. I shot a 150 grain 0.311 diameter Sierra through the 1909 and a 174 grain Round Nose Hornady 0.312 diameter through the 1891. Targets are in the pictures attached. the 1909 was shooting a...

Re: Swiss 96/11 range report

The mount bolts to the rifle with the bolts that hold the front of the trigger guard to the rifle. I've only shot it twice sense installing it but so far it hold the zero. It will fit the 1889, 1896/11 and the 1911 rifles.

Re: Need a Cure

We have a lot of projects rolling at work and as a result I have extra money coming in. So the Boss has turned a blind eye to my resent purchases. Fact is if I have the week-end off next week I will be getting the one I have laid away out and bring it home. Hell I worked 14 hours today and that alon...

Re: Swiss 96/11 range report

What i'd love to see is a 1896 that hasn't been converted to the 1911 configuration, Now the would be something to see. Don't quote me on this but I think the Cadet is a single shot version of that rifle.

Love at first sight but I'd have to buy ammo cause I'd have to load for a month to shoot this baby.

Re: Reloading for a shot out bore.

JYD that is a good idea. I do this for a short range gallery load in 45 Colt. I use a .454" ball over Trail Boss and at 7 yards they will shoot one ragged hole. At 15 the group is starting to open up. I will have to try this in a rifle. Double 00 Buck shot is, 330" on Graf and Sons.

Re: Picking this up Saturday

So Burrhead, are you surprised that you lived to be that old? I am a few months behind you and I am amazed! That is a gorgeous rifle. I have the 1891 Argentine in 7.65 x 53 and it is a pleasure to shoot. I have not been able to find an '09 that I was willing to pay the price for, but maybe, one day...

Re: Swiss 96/11 range report

I have a 96/11, a 1911 and an 1889 that I shoot. The action on the 96/11 rifles are the smoothest of the straight pull rifles out there. The K31 is an accurate rifle but I love the 96/11 about the best in my opinion.

Re: 1909 Argentine Mauser

Bunky I bought up a couple thousand burden primers and I reload GP11 brass. That helps a lot as I have three Swiss to feed. But I am running low on burden primers. Graf and sons use to stock them but no more. I'll find them though. I hate to think what all I reload got to be around 26 different cart...

Re: 1909 Argentine Mauser

Ya I agree about the fit and finish on the rifle. I've been in a Mauser rut lately I now have a 1895 Chilean, 1908 Brazilian, 98/29 Persian, 24/47, 1891 Argentine and now a 1909 Argentine. I've been trying to avoid any new calibers as I have so many to load for now between the hand guns and the rifl...

1909 Argentine Mauser

Well today the Hillbilly turned 65. my wife blessed my picking up my 1895 Mauser and putting this into lay away at my favorite gun shop. It's a 1909 Argentine Mauser all matching but the crest has been removed from the receiver. The bore is near mint so it should be a good shooter. We will see when ...

I also have a PT99 and like it Taurus seems to make a pretty good Weapon. I haven't shot a Bretta but I do like the S&W M&P that is a nice weapon also. For me with my big hands it sure points well.

I have a week scheduled off in September so that may be a good time to do that. Right now I'm working seven days and it's hard to have time to do anything at all. I'm hoping for a day off next weekend have to see if it happens.
