Re: any way to track the history of a specific Mosin Nagant

We love to see people (especially new owners) learning about these rifles. They are pieces of history you can hold in your hand and this is why we choose to try to preserve these rifles. Many people today see the Mosin as a "cheap" disposable rifles that is so cheap they justify destroying...

skeet1, Welcome to the forums.

Sit down and clean that rifle and take some photos of it. It is a good thing to have for security and we love to see photos of Mosins.!

Re: any way to track the history of a specific Mosin Nagant

I know that you can see when and where most were manufactured (mine is from 1938 but I cant tell where it was made because there is no large arsenal stamp, but I suspect its from tula based on what I have read about 2 cyrillic letters before the serial no.) Is there any form of record based on the ...

Re: Got my first in Jan and something happened

It's called Mosinitis . I hate to say it, but if that is since Jan, I think you may be terminal!   The only chance you have is to pull each one down one at a time and photograph it and post it here in the forums. You might get "some" relief!  (I know we will!) D...

Re: First Mosin

Andrew_D , Welcome to the forums! The first photo you posted is a "inspectors mark" to the left, and a refurbishment mark to the right. Second photo is a nice stock patch!, and more (thought to be) inspector marks. No one knows for sure, but inspector marks seem to be the consensus. Third ...

Re: M28/30 Finn mosin Nagant #9

Few differences in the forestock and in the front barrel band between m28-30 and M39.

The first M28-30's were M28's with the rear sights changed (If I remember right!).

Re: First Mosins (Sticky)

I'm all turned around today! Bueller has a 1942 and KT has the 1943. Duh! Germans went into Russia in 1942 and was exiting in 1943. If I remember right (today!). That caused The Tula plant to ship everything to the Izhevsk Arsenal because it was too close for comfort. Izhevsk Arsenal had to d...

bueller,
He is referring to KT's rifle. Yours is the same except it is a 1942 Izhevsk Arsenal made. One year earlier.

OK, Here are a couple of web pages (here on this website) that will help "you" ID some items on your rifles. We like for the new beginner to ID these marks if possible, but if you can't, you can always ask us here. New owners ID page http://russian-mosin-nagant-forum.com/information/new_ow...

Re: Strange mark on my mosing

Hi Andy, Welcome to the forums! It's a Mosin, as in Mosin Nagant. The Triangle with a 12 in it is one of many unknown marks on a Mosin. Likely an inspectors mark as it was being built. There are a few that are know such as a triangle1 or triangle 2 which indicate use in the DDR (Germany). Post some ...

No, easy keeping track of them. I paint a big huge number on the side of the butt stock so I know which one it is. I just photoshop the number out when I post it! Oh, and photos shop in some stripes!

Panic, you don't know panic! I was working hard to get it back and it is very frustrating being at the mercy of the "Hosting Company". They did a good job, it's just when it's down the time goes very slowly. I was just sitting there thinking, "All those important files JYD has...
