Re: 129 Ex-Dragoon or 1930's Tula Hex Need Help(UPDATE PICS)
That looks like the Russian imperial eagle, a common enough thing on the older rifles, the bolt was reused from something older during the refurb. Tula arsenal hammer, and Izhevsk bow are the other marks I see. It's common to see many arsenal stamps on the refurbs because the parts were mixed aroun...

Cool man thanks! So what do you think is it a ex-dragon from that gap I took a picture of between rear sight base and barrel? Also what do you know about that Tula hammer bolt handle I posted? Is that eagle mark a known mark?desdem12 wrote: Looks great

Re: 1929 Ex-Dragoon or 1930's Tula Hex Need Help fellow Mosi
There is nothing wrong with a forced match rifle. The finnish ones are that way and likely any non refurbed ones you find will have a different part or number on it. It is a normal thing in the mosin world. All matching arsenal stamped numbers and parts rifles would be very costly unless lucked int...

Thanks everyone for your input and advice. Here is an update I'm on my way to work then as soon as I'm out I'm going directly to go claim that 29 and bring her home. Instead of just putting money down and picking it up next week I'm going all in and made executive decision it has to come home today....

I also got a massive lot of various mosin Nagant parts in including a lot of Tula hammer marked parts with a couple Finn made HV Tula hammer marked Triggeeguards with what look to be training rifle marked stamps on one. And also a early style Tula hammer marked bolt handle that is in excellent cond...

Re: 1929 Ex-Dragoon or 1930's Tula Hex Need Help fellow Mosi
*Official* Production of the 91/30 from what we know began in 1930. But there are many Ex-Dragoons from as late as 1934 or so & it wouldn't surprise me if there were a few early 91/30 configured rifles from 1929. Just a lot of mixing & changing going on in those years. Don't worry though. Y...

Re: 1929 Ex-Dragoon or 1930's Tula Hex Need Help fellow Mosi
Ok so I'm going to have to go with the 29 Izhevsk ex-dragoon I should have known that. Wasn't sure if the $200 was to high that included $25 for handpick for nice Tula hex. Got another dumb question though I'm going off what I read all 1929 Izhevsks are either dragoons or a ex/updated dragoon just b...

129 Ex-Dragoon or 1930's Tula Hex Need Help(VIDEO ADDED)
OK here is the low down I want to hear from as many of my fellow MN forum members as possible.I found a dealer out of state that has a few 1930s Tula Hex receivers for sale with all the accessories and goodies and was going to purchase and have shipped to local FFL but when I spoke to my FFL he info...

Re: Laminated stocks
You know what I can believe it. I was shooting in a real quick succession with my laminate and besides the smoke pouring out of the chamber every time I'd chamber another round then receiver was getting nice and toasty...so I set it down bolt open to cool and picked up my 43 Izhevsk and put her thro...

Wow! What a great forum and an excellent group of real no BS Mosin Nagant owners. Everything that you all have stated is exactly what i wanted to hear. I just got home from the range and i have to say I love shooting all 3 of my MNs. They all shoot slightly different and unique in their own way. Thi...

Re: Laminated stocks
Good for you. Never shy away from a counterbored rifle for that reason. The counter bore actually improves the accuracy and cleans up a bad or worn crown. Longcolt- Your absolutely right about that. I have 3 MNs 2 Tulas and 1 Izhevsk, The one 1938 Tula is counterbored and it my most accurate I beli...

Re: Laminated stocks
I just picked up my first laminated Stock m91/30. I got it from a surplus retailer sold as excellent condition and it surely is. One thing about them is a lot have been counterbored but luckily I checked mine and it has not been counterbored and the rifling is deep and in very good condition. I'm it...

Re: love the war time rough IZZYs
Junkyarddog- This is why I'm here! That double stamp sounds cool! And that's just it to me to see all the different variants because of the pressure the Russians were under is just neat. Even know mistakes, mistamps were common to me that means that no mistakes are probably alike making each rifle di...
