1936 Izhevsk 91/30 SCW rifle
This rifle was purchased from a seller who had it in his family for 40 plus years. It was his first rifle. When Mosins were imported from Spain, not all were marked. The ones that were either had Made in USSR or Made in URRS stamped on them. This rifle has a partial URRS stamp. It's stock isn't as h...

That's the tape residue. The part that's on the wood isn't sticky anymore, so I left it alone. I just cleaned off the part that was still adhered to the barrel bands.

1928 Izhevsk non-import non-updated dragoon, maybe SCW
I picked up this well used and very well worn dragoon a while back, on the chance that it may be a Spanish Civil War rifle. I still think it may be one. The particulars..Non import marked, no USSR stamp, total mismatch. The stock is a 36 Izhevsk 91/30 stock, and the butt plate serial number falls wi...

I'll post some more as I can. I don't have as many anymore as I did, but I've been lucky with some uncommon ones.
I totally agree with your refurb statement. Its neat to think about.

Re: 1917 Balkan Remington
There aren't any pine cone stamps anywhere at all. I've been told that the F serial suffix is a Romanian trait though. Also, apparently that small batch imported after most of the M91s came in was from Romania also. If anyone has any other info I'd love to find out more about it. I saw a NEW M91 wit...

1917 Balkan Remington
This is my favorite mosin. It is really beat, but if it could talk! It has a 4 digit serial with an added F suffix, a 1919 dated stock with the Tula 'big hammer' stamp, and initials cut into one side and a barely legible (Romanian?) name carved into the other with what seems to have been a bayonet t...

1941 Tula 91/30 refurb, with a twist
I've really enjoyed this forum, but I haven't posted very many photos to share with everyone. I thought I would post a few of the more interesting rifles that I've been lucky to acquire in the short time I've been collecting. Some have moved on, some are still tucked away here. Here is one of the mo...

Nice Balkan Remington! I have one too. I like the Balkan even though they are pieced together for the most part. You can find some really uncommon and early features on them.

Re: 1942 VKT m91 B barrel serial number range? photos added
The dealer knew what it was, I just can't figure out why he posted it so low. What happened was i wad heading for bed and figured I'd check the web real fast. I saw this ad and thought something was up. I saw it was a business selling it so I figured I'd call and leave a message asking about it. Whe...

Here's the photos that were sent today after I bought the rifle. any input is appreciated. I'm not to familiar with the Finn M91s http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p99/racerguy00/Mobile%20Uploads/Resampled952012-07-279509-44-1195750.jpg http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p99/racerguy00/Mobile%20Upl...

The photos on the ad are generic armslist stock photos. I'll post the pictures he sent me after I'm done cleaning up some storm debris. The power just came back on, its been nasty here the last 2 days.

Re: 1942 VKT m91 B barrel serial number range?
It's legit from a gun shop. Apparently it was bought years ago in a 'buy three at a time' special, and the price I paid for this one is close to what all three together were before. The ad was up litterally only ten minutes when I called him. With shipping $106 to my door. Wow

Re: 1942 VKT m91 B barrel serial number range?
I thought the ad was wrong, but he confirmed that it was non bubbafied, and has the Finn hangers, a handguard and cleaning rod to boot. His photos that he sent today confirmed his description. I'm stoked.

I bought a VKT m91 last night CHEAP based on the sellers description over the phone. He sent photos today and shipped it out. I can't see the B in the photo, serial number in the 24500 range should be a B barrel right? I'll post the photos when I get home. I'm at work right now.

Mine was only 500 lower serial number than yours. Not PL marked OR counterbored. Great rifle!

Re: import # id ?
Each arsenal used their own serial numbers so you could have the same number from each arsenal. And I believe the dragoons also had their own set of numbers. So I guess you could have an M91 dragoon and an M91 rifle, same arsenal, same year, same serial number.
