Re: Questions for my 1943 Izhevsk PU

Need to look at it on a bigger screen but what I see so far looks good. The Tula stock was installed during refurb and is a war time stock as Tula used the press in sling slots in the PU's in 42 through the end of production in 44.

Re: 1943 Izhevsk pu identification

I hope to get a better look at this tonight, but I agree with Darryl that it looks like a Century put together.

Re: 1943 Izhevsk pu identification

Miller, Is this an early " Century Import"? I noted: No scope numbers on the left side of the barrel shank. Looks like inspection marks on lower left side of barrel shank removed" (originally)????? Base, mount and scope look real but (mixed makers), scope mound serial numbers don't m...

Re: 1943 Izhevsk pu identification

Well sir, we need much better pics of the area the scope s/n was scrubbed from because I am not seeing things clearly enough in your pics but there appears to be inspectionmarks in the wrong places. I also don'tsee the sniper "C" stamp. So more pics of the entire barrel shank would help. T...

Re: 1943 PU Sniper - 1958 Polish Refurb

Looked this rifle over, and I can't say for 100% that it is a Polish refurbed PU, I can say the scope markings, the rear sight in the white, and the beautiful bluing are all Polish traits. Are there and stamps on the sides of the butt stock? Any close-ups of small parts inspection marks, Polish Mosi...

Re: Enemy at the Gates / Ron Perlman

Since it isn't the prop he used in the movie I am not sure there is any upside in doing it. Like JYD said, have him sign a copy of the movie, or a Pic of him from the movie holding a PU.

Re: 1942 Tula sniper verification please help

The mount definitely isn't a Tula mount even though it is so stamped. So no need to go any further as the whole rifle becomes highly suspect.

Like Darryl said, it's a 1938 PEM, and someone unfortunately went to town on it with a wire brush.

Re: Hungarian 48M Scope Questions

Re: Hungarian 48M Scope Questions

The scope on the M52, if original should be marked with the rifles s/n, bit the base and mount are just 02 marked. As for Russian scopes on M52's, there was a collector I chatted with in Italy, and known by a few on this forum,(Alb87) that collected Hungarian Mosins and he said all production number...

Re: Is this a real 1943 PU Scope??

Paint was most certainly used on scopes, as well as other blued parts on Mosins during refurbishment, usually to help protect scratched, damaged, or thinning bluing.

Re: 1942r Mosin Sniper Reciever Help

Could be Darryl, but there is something about the lined out scope number look and font the just doesn't sit well with me. Need to pull my 42 and see if it is the same font.
