Re: Bolt and firing pin

You can also measure the protrusion with a caliper if it has a depth gauge. The protrusion should be between 0.075 and 0.095 inch.

It is neat to have the tool though. It has a screwdriver tip and it can also be used for a wrench for the firing pin and the bayonet.

Re: Headin to the range today.

1934hexreceiver, given your physical size, you may find that putting on a recoil pad may cause the rifle to have too long a distance from trigger to shoulder (length of pull). You may want to look into getting a shooting vest or jacket that would have a bit of padding yet not increase the length of ...

Re: 148 Grain VS 182 Grain

I have only used 147gr bullets in my Mosins but my 30-06 would shoot as tight a group with180 gr bullets as with 150 gr. Of course the trajectory will be different so some adjustment will be needed when switching. Since the 147 gr was standard for rifles at the time 91/30s and M44s were made, I woul...

Re: Bolt and firing pin

Usually you will want the rear of the firing pin flush with the cocking piece. One of mine has to stick out a bit in order to not have to much pin protrusion at the bolt head. If you do not line up the screw slot with the scribe marks, the connector bar will automatically force the lineup as you ins...

Re: Russian Anti Aircraft Battery

I am going to try to find the article where I saw this picture, sometime next week. It had something to do with sniper training. Pictures can be mislabeled. They look more like the troops in training then troops in the field. Perhaps there was an air strike on the town in the vicinity of the school...

That would be about 77 yards. If you wait till the planes get that close their props will chop off your head before you can blink an eye.

Re: Russian Anti Aircraft Battery

Shit, I think I just watched a tire blow out crash on the TV the other day, maybe last days of WWII series. I have seen a number of records that showed that squadrons lost nearly as many pilots to accidents (counting their training period in the states) as were lost in combat. My squadron lost two ...

:vcool: :vcool: :vcool: I wonder what happened to Spook I? The A-20 named the 'Spook' had serial number 41-109. "According to official Army records, 41-109 crashed on take-off on January 26, 1943 and the pilot, Lieutenant Williamson, was killed; the gunner returned to duty. Cause of the accide...

Re: Russian Anti Aircraft Battery

There were varying numbers of 50 cals on the A-20s. Some had as many as 9 that fired foward. Some had fewer, and some had a 75 mm canon plus a couple of 50s that fired forward.

Here is their "Spook" :) :

Re: Russian Anti Aircraft Battery

Just think about what it must be like wherever those bullets are raining down . Col Scott's P-40 had 6 fifties and slowed the plane down when they were fired. Here is a page from an A-20 squadron's book that shows the firepower of their 50 cal machine guns and how catastropic it was for the enemy g...

Count me in the ones that cannot - but that may be an advantage, the bear would have slippery footing while I exit stage-left. :)
