Re: What happens when you use a tree as a target stand?
The tree was coming down anyway for winter firewood, we just made it more fun.

We have discussed this one, I have always said I will take it off your hands when you finally decide you don't need t.Longcolt44 wrote:I have a Marlin 60 that was given to me in 1985. I have never fired it. No reason, I just don't think of it when I go to the range.

http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq75/MikeBcos/L1000337small.jpg I don't actually collect .22 rifles, I generally just come across them, from top to bottom: Winchester Wildcat 2009 model, this is basically a Tula TOZ-78 rebranded as a Winchester, I found it at a small town gun store a year or so ...

Re: Lost my venison.
It actually wasn't bad, we figure it took three days to thaw fully then the basement is fairly cool. It was way beyond saving though.Junk Yard Dog wrote:a full week? that must have been a real nice smell
I'll just have to get more this year.

Lost my venison.
We installed a new washer and dryer just over a week ago. The deep freezer plug got dislodged just enough to shut it down. We didn't notice for 7 days. 40lbs of venison and 12 ducks gone. It could have been worse though, we found out as we were about to load it up with a 1/4 cow, it would have...

I'm not giving this one up, I'm actually using it in a competitive league right now, I'm amazed at the groups I can hold out to 20 yards with it.millman wrote: I like that Security Six. I had one for a while, but the owner hounded me until I returned it.

Re: Recoil Question
I don't have a problem with rifle or shotgun recoil. I pull the thumpers in really tight. It doesn't give them a running start to pound you. I do however have a problem with high velocity light-weight alloy handguns. Sunday, I was shooting my Son's 2" .357 mag, and that sucker lets your hand k...

Re: RIP 7.62x54mmR
Last time I was around here surplus was still available everywhere, how quickly things change! Fortunately I stocked up, I figure I have enough to last my lifetime and still leave one can to go with each rifle after I am gone, the grandkids are going to be real happy with me. :D My wife also knows e...

Re: Recoil Question
I thought my Mosins had impressive recoil until recently, I had to sight in a shotgun ready for deer hunting in an area that did not allow rifles. Try shooting a 1oz slug on a bench rest - that sucker hurt!

Duck Hunting
One of my wife's old school friends runs an annual auction on Facebook for a two day duck hunt for two people on his property, if you win the auction you pay the money directly to St. Jude's Children's Hospital he will then supply everything you need and host you on the hunt. My wife encouraged me t...

Re: Deer processing class
You should rig up something in the bathroom so you can do it over the tub, makes cleaning up after a lot easier. Roy DeMeo perfected that technique disposing of over 100 inconvenient people at the Gemini lounge back in the 70's down in Brooklyn. It was such a good clean way of disposal that most of...

Re: Deer processing class
Way to go Mike. I see you have a pulley to hoist your's up with. I really need to get one but have forgotten any time I'm some place that sells them. Sure makes it easier to lift them I guess. I've been throwing the rope over a beam behind the workshop and grunting it out. That's ok some major impr...
