Re: 1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Hi All i have finally got her home and i am a happy man. Acouple of hours were spent cleaning all the years of crap out of the bolt and other nook and crannies as well as giving the barrel a good scrub out as it had clearly not been cleaned in some time. She has come up nice and the bore looks fine,...

Re: 1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Things are not too good here with regard to firearms ownership but not 100% bad either. Our government and police need to understand that legal ownership is not a problem as we are dedicated sports persons and collectors etc. I will always own at least one firearm its just a question of if it is dee...

They made a few issues at the time and for a short time after but i have got one over on the several times including proving the head guy wrong in regards to the leg...

Re: 1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Re: 1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Hi As mentioned in my last post i got time to personally inspect this rifle today. I was very pleased as barrel has strong rifling and crown looks to be good, will need a thorough clean once i get her home as it seems not to have been cleaned since last used (non corrosive ammo as no rust in bore) a...

Re: 1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Hi Tula Neil I am on the south coast, where are you located? Interesting if those are German proof marks, i am interested to try to find out how this rifle made its way to U.K If it turns out as i suspect to be all original and non re-arsenalled etc then one would assume its possible it was a battle...

Re: What questions would you ask?

Re: What questions would you ask?

Hi

I have actually had words with that dealer and they are fake, many not even selected sniper rifles and just had scopes bolted on. I will try to find the email and post it here if i still have it.

Best regards

Re: 1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Hi jumperwire
Those marks you mention are UK proof marks. We don't have import marks here in UK thankfully but we do need proof marks,at least they are less obtrusive and prove an old rifle is still a strong rifle :-)

Re: 1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Hi I had researched the use of the SVT-40 scopes on Mosin Nagants and from what i read they used them as official issue once the SVT-40 had been deemed unsuitable and there was a glut of SVT-40 scopes ready to be fitted hence the fitting to the 91/30 when they reverted to the faithfull Mosin. This i...

1944 PU sniper just done the deal

Hi All I have just done a deal on a Mosin Nagant PU sniper. Ok first a bit of background on this as i am in UK. Put together/fake nagant snipers often sell for £600-£650 over here and i have had a few arguments over this with dealers who are clearly peddling faked/parts bin rifles as originals. Ok s...
