Thanks for the nice comments and info guys.
No worries pacanis, I took it as "tom" as in Tommy british soldier, a compliment so no problem...

1903 A3 Did I do ok?
Been looking for one of these for a while, found a Remington 1903 A3, took it to the range on Saturday, 200yds 50 rounds, all in the black with several Vbulls. What theatre of WW2 would this have been made for (1943 March)? https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uU3cOkhVwVY/T4KrTvvYXkI/AAAAAAAAIUk/1YPCy...

Re: Took Another Blind Plunge - Long Branch LE
Hi Martin08 Very very nice original condition No4  You do not see many like that most have been cleaned to look new. The stamp on the end of the barrel NP by the bayonet lug, is for the London proof house, England, as I can't see a date under it, difficult to say when it was done, sorry. T...

Re: My first Mosin - a 1926 ex-Dragoon!
Morning Grello. Essex is my location. Found my last 2 M/N's walking around a Military Arms Fair at Bisley, end of last year. Never used Fenland I tend to get my milsurps by word of mouth, ask around at shows someone always knows someone thats selling one. Maybe one day meet up at Bisley you with you...

Re: My first Mosin - a 1926 ex-Dragoon!
Hi Grello. Way of the mark on both counts, never even thought CPG had any left, I did have a good look at the stock last year. I shoot at Bisley once a month with the club 100-300yds but book longer ranges as a NRA member, there on Friday with my ex dragoon and 1942 91/30 at 600yds should be fun. I'...

Re: My second Mosin - 1945 Carbine
Yes M44 has BNP Birmingham proof house stamps one on barrel in front of the 7.62x54r the other just on the receiver.
Wow you know how to pick them another great looking M/N. If you use milsurp ammo then you will get a fire ball.

Re: My first Mosin - a 1926 ex-Dragoon!
Welcome to the forum from another Brit, Nice rifle you have... I also have a ex dragoon a 1927 vintage. This mosin fever will get to you, I now have 5 all Tula's. My FAC office has limited my collection to a max of 5, if I apply for more 54r then I have to become a collector not a shooter...

Mauser Gew98 1907
My latest Mauser, what do you think ? sling is from a K98 dated 44 which came with the rifle. Saw back bayonet is a J.H.Becker made, undated. The regimental disc gives the unit as, Bayern. 1st Pionier-Bataillon, 4th Kompanie, Waffe Nr. 208 - so a Bavarian Pioneer unit. https://lh3.googleusercontent....

Re: My first Lee Enfield
Hi JYD For many rifles to have that mark they would have come from a military outlet not a shooting organization. No5's not everyones ideal rifle, heavy recoil  Some years ago the military cadet forces, that did and still does teach shooting to young people, upgraded from bolt action rifles, sma...

Re: My first Lee Enfield
Hi, BNP is the proof mark for the Birmingham Proof House, England. Most weapons being sold in the UK should have this mark if into civilian ownership. You can own a weapon without this mark, but if you want to sell it then it should go through proof the confirm safe to use. The other UK proof house ...

Re: Selling vs Buying
Yes just sold hunting rifles with sound moderators, and have sold side by side shot guns, to buy 2 more M/N's. I now have a shopping list which includes, .303 SMLE, 30-06 Springfield, 1903A3 Remington 43(found a nice one but they are expensive here) 7.62x51 what ever I like the look of, and just bou...

Re: First of my new 91/30's 1942 year
Hi :popgun: In ansewer to your question 7.62 russ, I think it may have been done so it would not be confused with the Nato 7.62x51...(51/54) might look the same if not stamped well. Only info found on web pages still doing more searches....Thanks for the comment.. I do like your new pop gun by the w...
